Apparently the CW is debuting a series called The Wranglers that is an “unscripted” reality series on a supposed working ranch. And it looks just as stereotypically ludicrous as one would expect.

I’m sure all the crazed Beth Dutton wives and “I’m a rugged outdoorsman even though I only hunt three times a year” dudes will love it.

OK because I’m still having trouble even thinking about TCU football, let’s try this: Name a remake that equaled or exceeded the original.

My nominee is The Magnificent Seven, a remake of Kurasawa’s Seven Samurai (which is worth a look btw)

Under no circumstances can it possibly be considered a great movie......

but Dan Jenkins' "Baja Oklahoma" and that 'Song' brought back a lot of

memories of Cowtown.......
Love that movie. Shows TCU football on the TV.
It was an early HBO movie and Julia Roberts played Juanita's daughter.
I used to have it on videotape and I would watch it when I was stationed overseas and get so homesick.

Anyone cover Wolfs on Apple TV? Pitt/Clooney. Plot is thinner than Flat Sam but you get a 100 minutes of barbs and sarcasm between the two protagonists. I rate it in the 6.2 IMDB range. Decent, slick production. Amy Ryan is good in everything she does.

Reminded me of all those old "Road To" movies Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorothy Lamour did in the 1940-1962 timeframe.

Just a "buddy movie" with meaningful plot unnecessary.

OUCH!!!
I scheissing hate when a network has a marathon of a certain franchise or show but then shows them in some random ass order. Amc has a Halloween (Michael Myers) marathon on today and starts it off with part 5.

The order of the movies today....
Part 5
Part 4
Part 1
Part 2
Part 7
Part 8

[ What the heck? ]! Why not just show them in order.
And I'm ok with part 3 not being in there at all because it has absolutely nothing to do with Michael Myers and the original storyline.

That's the end of my rant lol.

Mike Myers hasn’t been very funny since the original Austin Powers. I had no idea there were 8 of them, but I definitely agree with you on the third one being not very good.

We’ll see Conclave this afternoon. Evidently fans and critics agree that it is high quality. I wonder if the awards people will be mad at all the high percentage of male actors?

Just kidding. Maybe.

OK we saw Conclave. There is some superior acting in this one. It is beautiful to look at. The pace and the way the story unfolds throwback to a better time in film. I think this one is worth your time with one caveat: The ending is somewhat telegraphed and a bit of a shark jump.

It should draw some attention at award time for both acting and production

@BrewingFrog watched the recent French production of Three Musketeers last night through today. It’s on Hulu if you haven’t already seen it. Thought you were the resident French aficionado yes?

Not bad at all! Very gritty in a period appropriate way. I’m not familiar with French so had to use subtitles and I wasn’t a fan of how Hulu did theirs but that’s a minor quibble. You may want to check this out when you have time. What an ending!

Also, there’s a mid-credits scene you may want to tune in for.

Murder Mindfully. It’s a German show on Netflix….kind of a cross between Better Call Saul and Dexter. I really enjoyed it. Episodes are only around 30-35 minutes long too.
