East Side Club email

I can't imagine why they would want to build more seats that would be empty like on the westside. I guess they could build a club section but keep the current seat configuration as it is and add some freaking shade. That would satisfy all parties and not create a whole new empty section of seats for the TV cameras. If you think the westside club seat section looks empty I can't image what the eastside would look like at 2:30 PM in September.

Just like most of the members of the real ritzy expensive country clubs don't really play much golf (if they play at all), we'd have more and more people buying premium seats that have no intention of actually going to games. The focus needs to be on making the stadium a better home field advantage so our odds of winning goes up, not adding more empty seats for the sake of the almighty dollar.

THe Survey is trying to gauge how much additional money or willing to fork over to be at the stadium no matter where you're currently sitting.
For east club seats they are floating a ten k donation. But they are definitely looking to raise prices for all seats.

Whatever TCU decides to do with suites, seat licenses, etc. they need to do it quickly. The Dickies Arena under construction on Montgomery will be rolling out the same things soon. West side FW likes its rodeo.

Yup. The more club areas we add- the more empty seats for day games we will have.

Some of y'all are missing the long term picture. Sure, many of us will never be able to justify a $14K spot in line to get a chance at a club seat, but think about the amount of money a renovation like that would bring in annually, and since TCU is not Baylor, this project will be 100% funded before they break ground. That means those seat licenses will afford CDC a nice boost to the budget allowing him to elevate the overall gameday experience without displacing current ticket holders.

Generally speaking the people that have the money to buy club seats/access aren't going to settle for seats that are always in the sun. They will buy them but they probably won't go and some UT/Tech/Baylor/whatever fan will sit in their seat. Give those people more options to be comfortable and they will attend games.

Again, not all of them think this way but we are naive to think that the biggest accumulation of wealth isn't with the older fans and alumni.

Athletic success doesn't come cheap. Facilities for players, coaches, etc have to keep getting better or we get left behind. It's sad but true, as the great James Hetfield so often laments. Progress won't happen because we want cheaper seats. And if a third level provides shade for the east side, then more east side folks will stay in their seats. The problem right now isn't filling the stadium, it's keeping it filled.

I don't hold any ill will toward any one that left their seats in the sun for the SMU game. It was brutal. I didn't leave but my seats are mostly shaded (and the cheapest in the stadium).

If it is economically feasible they will build it. If it isn't, let's hope they don't, so we aren't Baylor.

This is about three things, don't forget the bigger Jumbotron which will also be built during this upgrade period:

1. Sustaining Recruiting at a high level. Name of the game. See Alabama.
2. Sustained High End Experience for our Purple Fans, they want this and will pay for it. These $57,000 a year students will find a way to pay as alums for this gameday lifestyle, you watch.
3. Most importantly, Year 2024 and not being left at the altar if the Big XII goes bye bye and we have to look either west or east for a new conference home. Alternative is back to the $1 million dollar a year TV revenue from the Mountain West. Invest now, enjoy the investment, pay for the investment, and be the shiniest penny when the next round of conference alignment happens. TCU is not going back to the corner. Nobody puts that purple baby in the corner.

Hopefully this east club will have more of a younger bend to it. Like the 25-45 alumni crowd. And cool air mister fans or something in the loge areas or maybe everywhere outside is a requirement.

There's a very clear line when projects like this take place, those who can afford it and those who can't. Usually the bitching comes from those who can't.

Aside from displacing current seats, which some have said it won't, what can it hurt by continually improving the stadium.

IMO the stadium looks lopsided with the west side stands being twice as tall as the east side. Not sure the east side club/boxes would completely eliminate that, but it would help.

Switching gears, some have also stated that alcohol sales does not generate that much money, but I bet they wished they had some of that booze money since joining the Big12 to apply to this project. Or vidja board, or whatever else they have planned.

It appears the intent is to plop a new club level on top of the 200s sectiom. This would seem to limit any future significant seating expansion at AGCS and eliminate any hope you might see some symmetry in the sides. Just an observation.

The TCU membership club is interesting but I’m very, very skeptical it would work. Their target demographic is the existing membership of the Colonial and the Fort Worth Club, both of which have long-established offerings at equal or better prices than what that survey throws out - for most in more convenient locations. A $5,000 (or more) up-front fee and $400 monthly dues are too high. Take the FWC for example, which is quite a bit cheaper, especially for junior members, and has a much more established and extensive set of offerings—from dining and bar to sports leagues and networking events. TCU can’t replace that. Neat idea, but I’m sure this survey will tell them it won’t work.

End of the day, they’ll probably get a new East side club level. Will be nice. Won’t affect many people.

Existing supports were put in during the remodel so that should limit some of the building process. Most of the people that would buy them, probably are not sitting in the sun now but giving away or selling those tickets. This will just move them into the AC and open up a few o their current seats to others.

If they are smart, they will have a nice club for those that want posh, and a reasonably priced open area (ie. current seating) for those that want to be loud and near the team. That would provide for both fan bases.

Also saying the stadium seats 50,000 instead of 45,000 sounds slightly better. TCU also will not need much more than that for a very very long time unless they double the size of the school.

I do hope they would take this opportunity to provide a lot of shade over the east side seats. If we are going to continue to have 11 and 2:30 games in September/October, that is the least they could do.

How would they do that? They'd have to put some kind of odd looking huge canopy on the west side to cast a shadow to the east.
