TCU Media Advisory

Was I supposed to type something here?
Well, this has evidently been in the works for some time now. I guess we now know why they were in such a rush to get the Season Tickets sold, while clinging to the "You get this many Home Games next year!"

Something they knew was a lie when they were saying it.

You're off to a great start, ADMB.

Did we have a choice? If we had said no, would UNC just have canceled the game and paid us off? Would it be better to play them in Ireland than play UTSA at home?

Yeah the ADMB saga is not off to a great start to say the least. I was worried he’d be in over his head running a dept like this, and that seems to be the case so far.
New AD Scorecard
1. Absentee- Have to wrap things up with old employer
2. Season ticket price increase
3. Visibility- Minimal, No tweets, no emails, press conferences?
4. UNC- Great for student athletes, and staff. Terrible for fans. I don't really see UNC as a marquis non conference but it is the closest thing since Arkansas (maybe CU but we got lucky with the Deon hire)? I wonder where we will play Stanford?

What am I missing?

I remember when they rebuilt the stadium they said that it would help attract better opponents. We move basically every big non conference game. I don't know why anyone would buy season tickets. No Texas, no OU and no good ooc games.
How can you blame the TCU administration for UT and OU leaving? I keep hearing how this is somehow TCU's fault that they left for the $EC. Why? And how many of our fans want us to bolt for the Big 10 ASAP?

I understand the anger regarding the UNC game, but what could have TCU done to keep OU and UT in the Big 12?

They couldn't do anything but it hurts our schedule. They could try to get better ooc games. We canceled SMU and move big ooc games. TCU can't control the conference but they can control their schedule.

Again, why does UNC have that power over our home game?
UNC has no power at all, but what they do have is the latest Shiny Toy: Bill Belichick. This means the outfit that actually has the power, ESPN/ABC/Disney, can dictate what they want and the Wee Little College Programs (like us) quickly toe the line. Doesn't matter that we lose a Home Game, or that such a marquee game has the potential to ruin (See: Fla. St.) or make (See: Ga. Tech) a season, it means that the AD and his cronies get to fly on the ESPN G8 into Dublin, sipping Pol Roger the whole way while hob-knobbing with the Power Brokers.

Next season could be quite special, in that we will have some maturity and a lot of experience on both sides of the ball. This is, of course, all dependent on The Portal, Early Declarations for the NFL, etc., but the potential is there. We are gambling quite a bit on this move.

I cannot believe all of the uproar about SMU. We owned them for decades, 75% of the fan base got sick and tired of playing in their high school stadium and we all got tired of us being their Super Bowl. The administration listened to our fans and cancelled the series. Now, everyone wants us to play them again because they beat us a few times.

Good grief.

And what marque programs are going to play us in the nonconference?

UNC Football Moving 2026 Season Opener to Ireland

North Carolina is going international with its 2026 college football season opener, moving an already scheduled game against TCU to Ireland, UNC athletics director Bubba Cunningham announced on Tuesday.

That non-conference matchup has been on the books for Sept. 5, 2026, at TCU. It's a return game in Fort Worth, Texas, following the Horned Frogs' visit to UNC's Kenan Stadium that will open the 2025 season for both teams, along with providing the stage for Bill Belichick's coaching debut.

As part of the deal to move the 2026 opener to Dublin, Ireland, the Tar Heels have negotiated compensation for TCU, sources confirmed, as a means of recouping the revenue that's generated by a home football game.

UNC is paying us and we'll see a ticket increase in 2027. Sounds about right.
