I had to fight a bit to get through Wheel of Time S1 on Prime. S2 has turned out to be faster paced with better story lines and more character development. I suppose my reaction was bc S1 required so much exposition.

I did not read the books so I do admit I’ve done little research on Google and YouTube to fully grasp what’s happening but with these caveats, I’m liking it. The production values are high and the thing has some good actors both young and veteran

Season 2 is better and they are clearly trying to get back on track after deviating so much from the books in season 1.

I read that most of the writers and directors in season 1 had never read the books and were merely going off the summary guide written by the showrunner. The decisions made everything more confusing.

All of this is compounded by many other bad decisions in season 1.

I’m glad to hear this. I watched season 1 and thought it was ok - meh. Maybe I will take a gander at season 2.

Sweeping changes to the characters (Perrin) and even the actors (Mat) did it in for me, and the fact the Loial looked NOTHING like I imagined didn't help. I thought they did a GREAT job casting Lan, if maybe a bit on the small side. I'll give it another shot.

I think rumors are that the actor who played Mat in S1 had some kind of psychological break. I don’t know but he has just fallen of of all social media according to a Reddit thread I stumbled upon

Yep, very well done. I have also read a couple books on the subject. What a brutal betrayal. They still have their billions of course.
Which books? Empire of Pain? Dopesick? There are several out now. The Sackler family name is now being appropriately dragged through the mud. The opioid crisis is now their legacy.

After a glance at my Kindle as I can never recall titles, Empire and Dreamland by Sam Quinones. I also have in queue a book called Death in Mud Lick. Will add Painkiller to my list.
On the subject of nuclear accidents, the book Atomic Accidents by James Mahaffey is a very strong book. Well researched and hair raising.

Apologies for the derail.

Thanks. I own and have perused all of the opioid crisis books. I am prioritizing which to read as we speak. I know excerpts from all of them and I am familiar with the story and content but look forward to reading to fill in gaps.

Just watched the six episode series in Netflix called Painkillers. It’s about Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family. It was as depressing as Chernobyl. Very well done docu series about a terrible problem.
Dopesick on Hulu was amazing. Highly suggest watching it even if you’ve already read the book.
