Lupton renovation

Hell yeah. Check #1 on my wishlist already!

I’ll be curious if they go for the full teardown, or just buildout from what’s existing. I think it would be incredible if they tore it down, and then faced the new stadium at an angle where the stands overlooked campus and downtown.

Of course the funds have to be raised first, but let's imagine the day after the 20xx season ends, how long would it likely take until the first "play ball!" in the new digs?

Needs to be a complete rebuild. Honestly, would rather have it at the location of the intermural field, to the east of the soccer facilities but not sure if there's enough room. Either way, the main entrance needs to be visible from the road. The aluminum bleacher box needs to go.

2 things reminded me today how far behind we are on facilities.

1) Social media reminded me that on this exact day last year I was visiting my sister in Hawaii. We went again in July and on that trip I drove around UH's campus...their baseball stadium is never than our and provides more shade...and UH might have the worst collective athletic facilities in the country. They're still using WW2 internment portable buildings to house athletic admin.

2) Today l took my son to see the place where my grandfather's remains are entombed at the National Cemetery so, naturally, I drove by DBU. My son asked what it was. I told him. He asked if they played baseball. I told him very well. He asked if they have a nice ballpark. I said it's nicer than ours. He asked how such a small school could have a better baseball facility than TCU...didn't have a good answer for him.

Coach Schloss and Coach Saarloos were promised "new stadiums" by Donati and CDC before he left. Saarloos asked for the park in the intramural area and was promised it by Donati, but that was empty.

If they just tore out the existing seats and rebuilt a larger Lupton there, I would be fine with it. I don't want to lose my seats either, but the stadium does need to be rebuilt. Just make sure there are plenty of restrooms, and the awning covers all of the seats. During games on Sunday that start at 1, the lower bowl is like being in a microwave oven.

Saarloos and Buddie would have played against each other in 2002 as division rivals. Pretty cool.

A rebuild at the existing site would be fine as long as they keep seats close to the field and dont go all out on suites priority.

If a rebuild could minimize annoying the residential neighbors, that would be nice. Some people will always gripe when a building project is near their back yard, But no reason to antagonize the 'hood if not unavoidable.

I was promised that "at the very worst, you'll get your old seats back" when they reseated the football stadium. Right.
I'm pretty much screwed if they reseat in a new stadium because I only have one seat. No way I get my current seat back if they reseat. They don't want to leave a single open seat.
Hopefully they will give current season ticket holders first shot ahead of those who don't have season tickets.
