Expansion - BY making moves?

I don't see why the ACC isn't pushing hard for UConn unless it voids the TV deal. I think UConn could be a great add for several sports. Football isn't on that list, but not sure if that matters. I am pretty hard pass on the Pac-2. I just don't see what they would bring to the conference. I hate it for the schools and their fans, but I just don't see them adding to the conference.

Lots of smoke. So far the schools are voting it down, but that could change.

Could change if the smoke is coming from crack pipes and the school presidents lose their dang minds.

This is the first time I find myself rooting against Yormark's powers of persuasion. [I wonder if he is trying to look like he made a good-faith effort to get their garbage football program in to the league so that he can tell them he tried, then convince them to accept basketball only with a guaranteed number of non-conference games for football.]

I wrote an email to Brett Yormak today suggesting thet we trade WVU, UCF, and Cinn, for Cal, Stanford, and SMU and rebrand the conference as The Southwest Conference. Makes sense regionally for both us and the ACC. Plus SWC would make us sound like a conference that makes sense, like the SEC....on paper anyway.

AS they say in "Dances with Wolves"....good trade!

The strategy should be at the end of the day get FSU, Clemson, and hope
ND comes along after UVA and NC leave.

UConn is just a beating to get to, trust me. I dread the trip up there. Nice and pretty up there, but no thanks.

Completely agree Storrs is a horrible trip but the Football stadium (at least for now) is off-campus in East Hartford and is far easier to access than Storrs and the BB teams still play a lot of games @the XL Center in Hartford.

Still don't belong in the Big 12 and the UConn BB people who drive the bus are strongly aginst this.

And flying into Hartford is way more expensive than flying into Queens. Plus car rental on both

So a regional logic, and a name change makes less sense to you that going after schools that don't want us, or a nice trip to see tha Fall Foliage?

Wait on UCONN, they aren't going anywhere. The ACC could blow up any day. See who the B1GSEC take and then who is left. Maybe we take 2 teams, maybe none. Point is to kill the ACC the cheapest way possible. If losing FSU, CLEM, UVA & UNC is enough to demote the ACC into G5 status then our work is done.

I’ve been working here in the Hartford area since December, would be a bad place to spend a long weekend for a football or basketball game. You can get to Boston or any other area in little time. Just don’t stay in downtown Hartford.

The ACC is NOT going to just blow up any day.
The reason the B12 is going hard after UConn right now is because they believe the ACC is a “Stepping Stone” process.
Adding UConn for all sports in ‘26 gets Gonzaga (Gonzaga has had a B12 invite for 18 mos).
Adding UConn/Gonzaga puts the B12 in a serious conversation with Duke.
Adding UConn/Gonzaga/Duke puts the B12 in a serious conversation with UNC; then Virginia; then FSU.
UConn is a B12 investment to unlock the ACC; however, more than 1/2 of B12 administrators are against them, and any offer by BIG/SEC to UNC or Duke would torpedo everything.
