As far as the media and coverage is concerned, nobody outside the SEC/BIG is going to matter. And let’s be honest, those two leagues ARE going to be so much better than the others. If Utah were in the SEC or B12, they’d probably be the 4th or 5th best team, at best, and probably more like 6th or 7th.

The best days of Frog football are over, the conference realignment and rules changes guarantee that. I think we’ll maybe have a year or two until that becomes painfully obvious. It’ll be interesting to see how long people hang on.
Oh, it’s just sickening. Right now the BIG/SUC is working thru the NCAA, as they lobby the crap out of Congress for Anti-trust exclusion status.
If they ever buy enough votes, all CFB “have nots” will be completely strangled.
It’s a bunch of corrupt Carpetbaggers working with media to destroy CFB.

I generally don't disagree, but I still maintain it’s not the media’s fault, they are trying to make as much money as they can, that’s what they exist to do.

cable seems to be evolving pretty well. the need for multiple streaming accounts is getting thin on the nerves of consumers. Trying hard not to view this from my own standpoint. I have what I want on my cable package in town and I only really stream hunting shows via one provider. May stream some football this year. heck, i'd look at dish again since I can get that equipment that travels, but if you have wifi to your truck, kinda don't even need that these days.
I'm finding that the difference is about $20 to $30 per month to get what I want, and I get far more other channels (which granted I mostly never watch) compared with a cable bundle.

are you using streaming or dish/direct option?
What would you recommend looking at?
I'm using Comcast because it has the best internet by far in my area. By bundling and including a phone line that I never even connected a phone to, the TV portion of the bill is about $88, right now the only thing I don't get is ESPN+, and I've got no ads Netflix, all the HBO/MAX's etc, Peacock+ and Paramount+ rolled included. (though I do have to go into apps on the TV to access Netflix and Paramount+)

The closest thing when I looked at is the Hulu package that includes ESPN+, but I'd have to pay for Netflix, have to use my phone access for HBO/MAX etc. The value difference basically comes down to the rent I'm charged on the cable boxes vs convenience.

I'm not quite as pessimistic. We just have to fix the transfer portal. We can't compete when the B1GSEC can pluck our best players. This will happen when contracts are required for the player.

The B1G has always had the $$ advantage and has underwhelmed for decades. The bottom two thirds of the B1G aren't transforming themselves into the '27 Yankees anytime soon. Big12 games will generally be much more competitive which will increase demand.

If they fix the transfer portal that will significantly change things.....but I doubt they fix it. Yeah, if you say they are going to come up with a system that will give the non-monied programs a snowball's chance in hell I'll change my tune, but again, I don't think that's happening.

The Big 10 hasn't always had the kind of money advantage they have now and they haven't always underwhelmed as much as critics of that conference like to think......and they just added the three best programs from the PAC and UCLA.

The competition/parity of the Big 12 might actually hurt the league. Everyone thought the Pac 12 sucked for years because they couldn't get a team in the CFP, but all that meant is they didn't have one or two dominant teams so everyone had at least 2 losses every year.

UConn a smart add. If the Big 10 wants to add NC, ND, and Virginia and tries to hurt the big 12 by taking Kansas, we would lose little still having Uconn, Houston, and Arizona along with what is already the best bball conference. Low risk high reward. Like Houston being average at other sports, but adds rabid bball fans, the NY area market for TV money which is what Yormark knows is important.

I'm afraid you might be right. If they really do just choke out the programs in the Big 12 and most of the ACC that would be utterly tragic. The squeeze has already done too much damage as it is. My hope if they don't adopt rules that actually allow us to compete is that they'll leave enough programs out entirely that they can create a division 2 that would still be fun. If we're locked out with all of our current conference mates and half the current ACC, those programs plus the best of the American, MWC and a few others might be ok. Still, it wouldn't be the same.
