right there is exactly the problem with the rule - #26 for Wash St flat out led with his helmet, the RB was able to move enough to avoid the helmet to helmet and he wasn't "defenseless" so it was not even considered even though if he had connected on the hit it would have been brutal.

Yep. Wazzou got a free TD thanks to the zebras. And now they get to play over half the game against an ISU defense missing a couple of it's best players. Bot targeting calls were trash, but that last one was just atrocious.

If the "defenseless" player is being tackled by two people at the same time and the 2nd guy hits him in the head bc the 1st guy moved the target then that's football. You just can't play defense anymore with these interpretations of rules.
