If OU goes to the SEC I think that someone like Virginia or Virginia Tech come into play or some other teams in the ACC outside of the deep south markets that the SEC already dominates.

Look something like this maybe?

TCU
BYU
Kansas St
Kansas
Mizzoo
Okie St
Baylor
Texas Tech
Iowa St
Air Force
Boise St
Colorado St
Wyoming
New Mexico

???

Of if the Big XII did the plucking:

Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State, TCU, BYU, Utah, Texas Tech or Oklahoma State, Baylor, Memphis, UNLV (because of market size and basketball), Boise State. (Air Force, Houston or CSU replaces Utah if it goes to the Pac 10.)

I like that.

How can NU and UT be in the same conference????????

In the Big 10 UT can't throw its weight around and get it way that easily, which was what irritated Nebraska. The Big 10 is much more egalitarian in function....and there's too many other heavyweights anyways.

None of that makes sense.

Big Ten divides equally. UT doesn't get everything it wants (but makes a lot more than it does now). Nebraska doesn't have to worry about UT running the show.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- High level sources in multiple conferences have told KCTV5 that Texas and Texas A&M are looking to move to the Big Ten Conference and have petitioned for membership, while the University of Oklahoma is planning on petitioning the Southeastern Conference to become a member of its conference.

Man, I'm so confused now.

yeah, right....in big 8 country they all they could control UT as well. There was talk about how great NU, KSU, OU and how the Texas schools dragged the conference down. 8 years later....UT is that drunk friend who you bring to a party and you think even at the concert wth 80,000 people he won't bring the spotlight to himself...then winds up on the jumbotron, sportscenter, is viral on youtube, and sitting with david letterman next week.

Chip Brown:

There's a Kansas City TV report saying Texas and A&M to the Big Ten. That would be news to those schools

"TMZ Sports is reporting..."

That's awesome. College football has attracted the paparazzi.

Take a look at the top 10 revenue generators in college athletics.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writ...lignment/1.html

1. Texas $138,459,149
2. Ohio State $119,859,607
3. Florida $108,309,060
4. Alabama $103,934,873
5. LSU $100,077,884
6. Penn State $95,978,243
7. Michigan $95,193,030
8. Tennessee $92,524,125
9. Wisconsin $89,842,749
10. Auburn $87,001,416

It's not a question of control. Texas would be outnumbered this time. No multiple little brothers to boss around.

And the Big 10 divides the money equally, unlike the Big 12.

All of which is probably why the story ultimately probably isn't true. Ideally, UT wants to go somewhere where they can be the big dog. That ain't happening in the Big 10 or SEC.

The only thing more insufferable than a Longhorn is a Buckeye. Can't imagine those two in a conference together. But one thing for sure -- Texas would no longer be a big fish in a small pond like in the Big 12.
