Random thoughts on coaches leaving TCU (got curious and looked up a couple football coaches so partially off topic) Matty Bell left for A&M, Francis Schmidt left for Ohio St, Wacker went to Minnesota, Franchione to Alabama - all of these coaches had better win/loss records at TCU than at their new schools.

Makes me wonder if TCU should be the stopping place for these coaches more often.

Also how is it for other sports? I am guessing it would not hold true for basketball, but not sure about coaches leaving for baseball. Schloss was .611 at TCU and .578 at A&M according to wikipedia.

PS. these were the only 5 coaches I looked up.

OUCH!!!
Haha. Yep that's him. A statue for strike 3. Durbin Feltman on the mound to send TCU back to Omaha in 2016.

I love the end of that game. You can't really tell from that angle but Durbin gave the "thumbs down" right after the strike 3 call. It was great.

Edit...

When Schloss left us to go to the aggies, I actually sent him a gif of that on Twitter. Give me a minute....

Thank you for posting this clip. This always made me think he regretted going to A&M. I don’t think I was alone in that sentiment.
I think when they calm down they will realize he "told them" about a dozen times he didn't like the cult fans and the new AD being a total control freak broke his back - Schloss has always been a bit of child about people telling him what to do, especially when its a new AD that he doesn't respect. It was definitely a contributing factor to why he left TCU and seems to be part of his departure at Aggy.

Speaking of Aggie coaches leaving CS and the honor and virtue of the Aggies, I am reminded of the way they got rid of long time (26.5 years) basketball coach Shelby Metcalf...during the season. As he was leaving the AD's office (John David Crow), he remarked to the assembled media, "They always said Aggies take care of each other, and one just took care of me!"

Needless to say, he is the all time leader in wins; number two is Billy Kennedy with 151.
