Sounds like everything was ok with the facility upgrades. I think the biggest reason Schloss left was because he didn't like Alberts. He mentioned in his press conference that he completely trusts CDC.

As I recall, Schloss was on the Frog “committee” when CdC was hired & told the story about CdC while at Rice running onto a soggy field in his fancy clothes & shoes to prevent a rain-out call with a game on the line. Feel free to correct/fill in details.
