When measured by natties:... saying that UT is the premier program in college baseball...
I’d say Texas is 1a and LSU is 1b. Easy to make an argument that one is better than the other by some narrow margin especially if you move or hate one of them. However, USC is to college baseball what Notre Dame is to college football…viable, respected, historically important, but largely a non-factor as it comes to actually winning championships today. A top historical program that has become a mid 30’s ranked program that occasionally jumps up and has a great season. A run of the mill major conference competitor. Now these idiots have no less of an authority than Jake Arrieta coming to Schloss' defense and saying that UT is the premier program in college baseball...
Right. Not sure whether my point was clear. The Aggies (the aforementioned idiots) have tried to discredit Schloss to the point where Arrieta has jumped to his defense and in so doing has called UT premier - the exact opposite of what A&M wants to think. When measured by natties:
USC hasn't won it this century. And it's been almost two decades for Texas.
- USC has won 12 Men's College World Series championships
- LSU is alone in second with seven after winning the title in 2023
- Texas follows with six

Looks like TCU is tied for last in that category. When measured by natties:

LSU has played for 3 NC since Texas even sniffed one. In addition, what LSU did in the 90’s is remembered now much better than what Texas did in the decades before that.I’d say Texas is 1a and LSU is 1b. You illustrate my point perfectly. If you limit the evaluation to the Skip Bertmam era forward there is no comparison to LSU baseball. LSU ushered in the sport becoming what it is today, and was the launchpad for SEC baseball being relevant nationally, etc.LSU has played for 3 NC since Texas even sniffed one. In addition, what LSU did in the 90’s is remembered now much better than what Texas did in the decades before that.
That’s one heck of a pickup for Trout and Texas State. Quite a roster of coaching talent they have down there!Trout makes Pierce his assistant at Texas State: https://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/david-pierce-texas-state-19575141.php
