Have they removed all of the seating areas for the regular fans who can’t or won’t pay $400 for a box seat? For example the stands behind 5 green. Hard to tell from the broadcast so far.
And you thought college football is "all about the money". You should see the way they treat members, who subsidize the course all year long...Have they removed all of the seating areas for the regular fans who can’t or won’t pay $400 for a box seat? There’s nowhere for fans to sit and cheer. They have ruined the tournament for most fans. The crowd seems sparse, so the noise - clapping, cheering - is minimal. Reminds me Covid times. I miss the noise.
That's a shame. What are they thinking? There’s nowhere for fans to sit and cheer. They have ruined the tournament for most fans.

The commentator even said he was surprised there wasn't more of an "outpouring of emotion" when Scheffler walked onto the 18th green.
I will make a comment on this subject matter on Monday. Just my 2cents worth. There’s nowhere for fans to sit and cheer. They have ruined the tournament for most fans.
There’s a story circulating that Peter Malnati, who was playing with Murray on Friday when he walked off the course, asked PGA Tour officials to check on him. This story could get pretty ugly if it gets out. Very sad.Regarding Murray. A man with a tournament badge was saying he shot himself. Apparently had a history of alcohol abuse and depression. Very sad.![]()
For something like this, I’d suggest it might not be appropriate to quote “man w a tournament badge” until there’s more real information out there.Regarding Murray. A man with a tournament badge was saying he shot himself. Apparently had a history of alcohol abuse and depression. Very sad.![]()
There's a long standing contention that the PGA would like to relieve Colonial and Byron Nelson from it's tournements and move the whole lot to a newly developed course near it's new headquarters in Frisco. In the past, when I have queried about moves (badging, entertainment, hole location, etc) I was always told the "the PGA makes that call" If that is the case maybe PGA demanded more revenue, thus forcing the extra VIP suites instead of general seating. Now the PGA will have another excuse...poor attendance, enthusiasim. The head of the PGA, wasn't even at the Colonial, and had to "drive over" to make a statement about Grayson Murray.I like several of the changes and think the course itself may be better. But the lack of seating around several greens takes away from the atmosphere. 5, 16 and 18 in particular based on watching on TV. People don’t want to stand around a green when it’s 90+ and humid. As someone who has gone to colonial almost every year for the past 20 years it’s just disappointing.
The PGA Tour has no connection to the facility in Frisco. I don’t know why they'd move the tournament there. There's a long standing contention that the PGA would like to relieve Colonial and Byron Nelson from it's tournements and move the whole lot to a newly developed course near it's new headquarters in Frisco.
