Nothing doing for DBU in T2 as JJ gets an inning ending DP (4-6-3). Good stuff because JJ was throwing a bit more pitches than optimal and that gets him right back on pace.

After a circus catch to deny Rizer a double, Henry walks and Keefer singles and we've got runners at 1st and 2nd with one out again and a new pitcher coming in.

After a battle, Shepherd Ks on a slider in the dirt.
Oviedo with a two out RBI single. 1-0
Wolfe with an infield single and bases are loaded for Watson.
Watson Ks looking and it remains 1-0 after 2.

Four hits and two walks in two innings but just one run. Offense does put a lot of pressure on opponents but it hasn't exactly exploded early in a while

Eissler to start the 4th for the Frogs. JJ's line is one run on five hits in three innings. No walks and one K.

Watson chases down a tailing liner for the first out.

K

and the Patriots go down in order. Frog 4th coming up tied at 1

First pitch double for Patriots lead off. I think the book is out that Frogs pitchers are going to get the first pitch over the plate.

Eissler throws the ball into CF on a pick off attempt but runner can't advance to third.

Eissler walks the next batter so it's 1st and 2nd with nobody out.

This should surprise precisely nobody but DBU bunts and Shepherd throws the ball down the RF line and two runs score and the batter goes to 3rd. 3-1 Patriots.

Chuck trying to convince us that the Frogs work relentlessly on bunt defense. If so, maybe they need to stop working on it.

Next batter out on a 1-3. Runner at third stays.
Next batter out on a F3. Runner stays at third.
Next batter pops out to 1B as well.

Remains 3-1 Frogs. Two runs on one hit, one walks, and one error.

Why if we were -as Chuck said, playing for the bunt - did it take Shep so long to get to that ball?

It was 2/3 of the way up the line

It is so embarrassing how bad we are at bunt defense

Obviously if we are practicing we need to hire a consulting coach because no one on our staff knows how to teach it

I think Shepard needs to sit. He has quit hitting and always has trouble with the bunt.
He is a great kid but never been a great 3rd baseman - doesn’t come naturally to him at all instinct wise

Not sure we have another option unless it would be Keefer or put Keef at SS and move AO or maybe Henry since Henry isn’t playing that well at 2b either

"Frogs v DBU (Tuesday Beat the Weather Game)"

I think the thread title may have jinxed us. Let's not just beat the weather, let's beat DBU!

Can the Australian play third? There us also Humphrey.

One out single for the Patriots.

Green started this inning for the Frogs.

Best bunt defense we've seen all year for the Frogs results in a sac and there's two outs and a runner at 2B. Excellent play by both Guenther and Green.

But look at that....the sac pays off for the Patriots as the next batter singles and the runner comes around to score. 4-1 Patriots.

I've seen enough in 1.6 games against DBU to feel pretty confident that they are a better baseball team than the Frogs. Frogs may still come back to win this one but DBU is better.
