Coaching Moves thread

When Pickens died, he lost his main connection within the university. That lined up with a couple of bad seasons, with this year being epically terrible. So I kinda assumed there would be some churn within that department this winter.

I doubt he budges and is prob hoping they do try and fire him so he can sue for even more money
yup. they won't get far playing the for cause angle. he'll be a very very wealthy man. and likely freed up to coach elsewhere and still collect if they pull that [ Finebaum ].

i'm glad when bill snyder was retired it was done quietly and without all the public "insights." this oSu thing if it happens and mike is canned has been managed poorly. i wonder if t. boone's death resulted in new leadership at that level that is not up to mike's quirkiness?

They definitely look to be headed in the wrong direction, BUT firing a coach after one bad season (after a Big 12 title game appearance) doesn’t work out well usually. Don’t forget what they were before he got there.
They're about where we were in 2019. It'll take a few years to shake him loose, but the writing is on the wall already. I doubt he'll turn it around.

Then again, I thought that about him after the lost to Alabama State last year, then they made the CCG. He's a good coach. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if he got up off the mat again.

pokes were in the b12 championship last year and won 10 games including the texas bowl. two years earlier they won 12 including the fiesta. oSu is collectively out of their minds if they let him go.
If I were the AD at OSU, I would offer a concession to Gundy. He has been one of the best CFB coaches in the last 15 years. Let one of the Assistants coach 2025 and give Gundy a 1-year sabbatical with the understanding he will come back in the spring of '26. I really don't think the assistants are going to produce worse results than this year. Both parties (Gundy and OSU staffers) have right of first refusal and the option on either side to A) hire another coach on OSU side or B) Gundy can take another job elsewhere.

I know the above suggestion seems odd and has never been done before, but Gundy lost at least a half dozen starters for 3-5 weeks this year. This would be a decision/proposal based on equality AND not Equity.

Ok State has a 700 million N.I.L.. higher than LSU, Bama, OU, and Ohio St and others. You are a fool of fools Stillwater village idiot to think you will find a coach who will do nothing other than start next season and the next struggling for 5 wins a year.

There is only 5-6 occupations that have a higher stress level than a CFB head coach. Air traffic controllers, Nfl head coaches, Surgeons, Social workers and others(as of 2017 data). Give these guys a break.

UhOh! I can’t tell if the little fella was upset, or just lonely handing out his phone #.
I would suggest at a moderate sublime level that you check use of the word "fella". Perhaps with the Urban Dictionary to catch up with what is normal. Got it? Don't date yourself.

OUCH!!!
wonder if Cam puts on a little weight and comes back running harder? when they got in his ear about it a couple of weeks ago, he started going North a little more than east west. the radio crew made a big point about it in the game.
He showed alot of improvement the last few games. Had some really good runs.

Man I never thought I’d see this.
The Okie-lite recruiting class was not even mediocre. How does OSU expect to improve next week with the portal if nobody knows who the coach will be.
This was one of the B12s biggest brands and they appear to be on the verge of a death spiral.

Just speculating, but maybe the, “for cause,” for firing would be that horribad dye job on the hair?
