Pay a kid $10M+ to come to your school for one year, where more than likely he either 1) won't even start or 2) if he does, won't be that great because he will be a true frosh........and then he's a free agent next year and you gotta do it all over again.

Yes, that is insanity.

It is insane. Looks like the HS kids are being offered more than the proven players. Maybe it’s the years of eligibility left. It’s also a foreboding indicator as to how hard it will be for TCU to compete at top 12 levels going forward.
I agree, except Bryce Underwood is not a good example.
Bryce is a day 1 starter. He has Savion’s body/wheels, and Vince Young’s arm.
I can see why ridiculous money is being offered by his home college team.

It is being reported that offer is a Four Year deal. Still $2.5 million+ is nuts for a talented but unproven commodity

How many stars did Jeff Ballard have? Andy Dalton? Tre Boykin? How much cash would they have demanded today? What did Hoover ask for? Hejny? Maybe Hejny gets a boatload of cash from someone, but thankfully he stayed home.

Our best QBs have always been under the radar (except for Sammy Baugh) and they turned out OK. Except for the early '80s, TCU has never tried to money whip a player. Why would that change going forward? There are enough players in Texas and La. plus the transfer portal for us to thrive going forward. The bigger question is do we have the coaching staff to make it happen.

Sammy Baugh was a Blue Chip recruit?

Way back on July 6th, TCU committed a somewhat unheralded RB - Jon Denman 5-10 193 lbs. and runs 10.9 100m.
Jon was a 2-way player for a very challenged Palestine team. They only won 1 game in his junior season’23, so he didn’t get much visibility, but still Jon was successful ranked as the 49th top player in East Texas.
Since then, Denman transferred to Westwood for his senior season, and he has become a beast at RB. Westwood doesn’t release stats, but he is way over 1,000 yards. Last weekend against Fairfield he had 285 yds and 5 TDS, including an 85 yarder right up the gut. He does most of his damage in the middle, but he also has the speed to get to the edge.

Going to be a good one and hopefully will help sway Perry Cole to the Frogs. Also, Keylan Abrams, linebacker commit from DeSoto is his nephew.

BTW, staff offered 2026 RB Christian Rhodes from Lake Highlands. Kid is 6-2/200 with 38" vert, and 4.5 speed. Offers include OleMiss, UH, Miami, OKSt, KS, Az
