First time seeing Lund. He looks like a useful piece of the puzzle.
He was better last night than his first appearance. Useful piece of the puzzle is right for me. A serviceable back-up to Jedi, but I need a larger sample size with more consistency against an opponent that has it together and I'll be more of a believer. I only got to see the 1st half last night after my son's baseball game, but he was good. Plays differently than Jedi b/c he's not a burner, but is probably a better crosser of the ball and on-ball defender. Jedi's recovery speed is next level, though, and Jedi has a really nice shot that I haven't yet seen from Lund.

Serge is feeling it tonight.
He single-handedly made that first goal happen. Incisive run starting the give-and-go that carved up the Ghana midfield and back line in 1.2 seconds to get the cross/shot in for Gio's rebound goal. That's something no other defender in the player pool can do from the right side except for MAYBE Bryan Reynolds, but that's a huge stretch. Serge just makes it look like a walk in the park, though. Same with the dribble out of the corner to draw the yellow a half hour in. Most countries don't have a guy like that in defense. If we can just get consistent on-ball defending from him we'd shut that side of the field down every game.

Gio not helping himself in his refusal to talk to the media.
I honestly couldn't care less. I just want him to play, not talk. And GB pontificating to every microphone he can find saying stupid crap about Gio in the process can't make it easier for Gio to give an honest interview that won't escalate tensions. The problem is Gio can't play if GB doesn't put him on the pitch and, as we saw in Qatar, GB is more than capable of darning that situation up.

He's a guy that can help this group when he's playing crappy like he did in Qatar (supposedly) too. Gregg is such a blowhard.
He gave a poor effort in training at Qatar after being told by Gregg that he wouldn’t be playing. Gee, I wonder why Gio was unfocused and poorly motivated.

Bingo. And made worse by the fact that GB was a guy Gio had grown up to love and trust since he could walk and to be told that from someone who is essentially family would naturally cause even deeper soul searching and doubt.

GB's grossly mishandled that situation to the point that I think he almost single-handedly caused it to happen. Gio should have been more mature, but GB did so much wrong it's hard to blame Gio for a seemingly natural reaction. It's really got me thinking more about the John Brooks situation between GB too. It's been 2 years since Brooks last wore the crest and last night ended Gio's 2 year goal drought for the Nats.

GB has a couple of massive 2 year stains on his resume with this program. Darn that guy.

Neymar tore his ACL and meniscus in a WC qualifying loss to Uruguay. That's a horrible injury, but he's one of a few footballers in the world I'm not disappointed to see that this happened to. The Caleb Williams equivalent in global football, but with incest, locker room fights, and cheating on pregnant girlfriends added to the mix.

Well this is suboptimal...

It'll be mid-March before he plays again. I'm worried hamstring injuries this serious will ruin his career. We need to plan to play without him and be pleasantly surprised if he's ever fit enough to play top flight football again. At least he's still very young.

Yeah, he’s probably MLS bound at this point next season.
