Had no idea this happened yesterday. Wow.

Yeah. Read about it yesterday. Crazy they had to pick someone from the pitch bc they were out of subs. Gotta think FIFA will assess that law in the off-season. If a red card offense results in an injury the injured players team should get an extra sub. Milan had to finish 10 v 10 so they got no advantage from the red card to the opponent. Worse, they were penalized bc they couldn't bring an actual goalie on. Just a wild finish.

Apparently Pulisic volunteered to go into goal, but the manager wanted Giroud due to his added height (6'4"). Another great match for Puli, though, and Musa as well. Really, really happy to see them thriving in Milan,

Good for Sarge. I'm still rooting hard for the kid b/c I think he has a lot of qualities we'll need in 2026. If he returns from injury and produces like he was to start the campaign this long term deal might make him attractive to top flight clubs seeking transfer help in the winter window or even next summer.

In other news, I missed that Tillman never made it to camp due to a minor injury. That's going to make the formation frustrating given that Adams is out and Gio isn't likely to play much. I was looking forward to seeing Tillman as a #10 with Musah as a #6 and McKennie a #8. Maybe Maloney will step in and impress. This is an informative piece on Maloney. Another German/American recruit, but he sounds like another Tyler Adams except with the size we always wished Tyler possessed.

Pulisic with a beauty! 1-0 US!

Looks like the only good thing that happened today. I'll watch when I get home after dinner, but I'm honestly surprised we couldn't get a result today. Germany have been struggling. Maybe Naglesman has them sorted out already.

I want to see Maloney in this role. Sounds like a replica of Adams, but taller. Typical GB to not give him a go against Germany. Gotta be a dream come true for a German-American kid to play for the USMNT against Germany and he just happens to be the exact type of player we need, yet it fails to happen. I really can't stand that clown. Hope to see Maloney against Ghana and hope he makes us think Adams was back just to stick the finger further into GB's eye.

Tyler is a fantastic player when healthy, but if the system demands that you have 1 specific player in order to play that system, then the coach is at fault for building his whole approach around it. The USMNT won plenty of games before Tyler and will win plenty of games after Tyler. Hopefully someone can smack some sense into our esteemed manager.

Esteemed? I don't think GB built his system around Tyler. I think he plays a system a certain way and happened to get lucky enough to have a player of Tyler's quality on the roster to make him look great.

That said, I do believe a high energy #6 is a very important player for any side to have. That we only have 1 is a real weakness for our depth. Again, I'd love to see Maloney become that guy. Regardless of the formation you run you need a guy like Tyler between the center backs and the midfield. You can coach around lacking that to a certain extent, but the list of guys who can play that role well and have a tangible impact on a game are pretty few across the globe. Tyler is a VERY important player in so many ways.

Good luck with that. Perhaps he's the best we can do (find that hard to believe) but you can't convince me we will ever do anything but underachieve with Greg in charge. There isn't one thing about him I can tolerate.

Same, same. Quite literally from the Jordans to the black shirts that just say "STATES" to the bounce passes to players for throw-ins to the tactics and methods of managing players. I'm pretty sure if I were in charge I'd have done almost 100% of everything he's done differently except for maybe player selection. I think he gets that 95% right; he just deploys them all wrong.
