Yeah I and others have talked about this for years ... no QB that Cumbie has coached has improved at all in a meaningful sense. Sure Boykin blossomed but that was a lot more with system and Doctson than it was about actually playing QB... his mechanics and reads never improved. Duggan got better coming into this season but has regressed as the season goes on.

bottom line, Cumbie is a bad QB coach and a worse OC.

I'm not trying to really defend the guy but year 2 Kenny Hill was way better than year 1 Kenny Hill.

1) our line can’t hold a block long enough for a deep pass to develop
2) our QB can’t throw a good deep ball
3) our receivers won’t make the 50/50 catches

There’s no way TCU football program can claim its trying to do much more than be mostly competitive by keeping Patterson around.

That was a total give up series to close out the half. If Gary doesn’t trust the offense then he needs a new staff. Also impossible to win from behind without scoring points.

I'm not trying to really defend the guy but year 2 Kenny Hill was way better than year 1 Kenny Hill.

I guess so. I don’t remember Hill being all that much better at actually throwing the ball, but he was a lot more confident and made better reads. I’ll give Cumbie some credit for that but it doesn’t change the other 8 QBs who never developed.

Wells, whatever he's yelling about, probably has a damned good point. He's wasted by the Derp Brothers. With the defenses WVU has been running, he ought to be the star of this game...
