more drug arrests?

I've never considered weed to be part of the "drug war". Cocaine, meth, heroine, crack, etc...sure. But saying weed is part of this supposed drug war is like saying it makes sense to have non-alcoholic beer illegal to people under 21....

Totally irrelevant whether you "consider' weed to be part of the drug war. It is a schedule 1 drug according to the DEA. Higher than cocaine, opium, methadone, etc.

And your analogy is not analogous in the slightest sense. Literally does not make any sense.

Just watched. Channel 5 news opened with their breaking news. I was wondering what was "breaking" about it. The arrests were 2 weeks ago. They said what was seized in the arrests. Well, drugs and cash were seized. Imagine that! 20 drug arrests and they found drugs and cash. This might make the cover of Newsweek.

Meanwhile, news that wasnt as important as the "breaking" news of 2 weeks ago:
A) a teenager was shot multiple times, this evening in Dallas
B) a car drove through a restaurant
C) a man was put to death this evening for killing a police
officer
D)A former FWPD officer was sentenced to 20 years for sexual abuse while on the job.

Channel 5 has to have "Breaking News" during every newscast whether it is happening right now or last week. They have become a joke in journalism because of their sensationalism that they have to put in every newscast. It is no wonder their ratings have taken such a dip. If it weren't for their weather and sports, they would be at the very bottom in viewership. I hope they will change news directors and get back to being a real news station.

Only 9 weapons seized? For 17 people?

Pitiful. I would have hoped Fort Worth could have done better an average of 1.9 guns per house. That's the number we should be embarrassed by. They need to come bust up my house, I'll get TCU back to a respectable standard.

Sorry for jumping in late here. Is there really another raid going on? Seriously? My cousin is an AP at TCU, but I don't think I'll be visiting her soon. Too afraid I'll get caught up in a busted tail light ring or something!

And rightfully so. Marijuana is a considerabley more dangerous drug than than cocaine. The number of deaths caused each year in this country from Marijuana overdose is a huge. I'm glad the government is working hard to keep such a dangerous, lethal drug like marijuana out of our country.

E) A Fort Worth man was sentenced to 18 years in prison because when police arrived at his workplace, he was wandering around naked. He said he was naked because he was hot. Then they checked his workstation and found child porn. Then he has some weed in his glove compartment in his car. Then, while out on bail, he gets busted for standing naked in his garage watching kids on bikes in the street. Link. As a father, this dude scares me a hell of a lot more than a couple of dime bags on campus.

Long term, I expect that's true. Do you know how bad for your health a dozen taco bell tacos are? Especially on a regular basis. Add some Cheetos and you're really in trouble.

channel 5 and the fwpd are trying their best to make us look bad and then you look around the college football world and hear about players from other bcs schools getting arrested for bigger drug offences but, nothing more is said about them. our local nbc5 and fwpd need to shut the f up and get on with their jobs of reporting news worthy stories and catching real criminals. if i was the person in charge of hiring security for the sporting events i would not include the fwpd i would hire a private security company. if i was tcu i wouldn't give the fwpd any more tcu money and i wouldn't give nbc5 anymore press passes. tell nbc5 to go to dallas and cover smu.

It's the last night of February sweeps tonight. Every station will do anything they can to sensationalize any story they can.

My point was that weed is not going to kill you, like you stated all drugs do. Hell, alcohol is worse than weed.

And I agree my analogy wasnt said correctly, but im making the point that weed is no where near as harmful than, lets say, meth. Just like non-alcoholic beer isnt as harmful as everclear.

I think you meant 0.5 guns per. 1.9 guns per would be 32 or 33 guns total. (Not meant to be [Gary Danielson])

SIAP but came across the results of a anonymous survey the NCAA did in 2009 on substance use by college athletes , based on over 20,000 responses. 22.6% of respondents said they had used marijuana in the last twelve months, the number for football players was 26.7%. I doubt if those numbers have gone down since then. Doesn't mean usage or sale is right, but indicates that TCU is hardly an outlier as far as multiple players having used this drug. Note this is a pdf

One of those weapons seized was brass knuckles. The other 8 were the shotguns & hunting rifles.

Where on earth did I say this?

Really hard to converse when you are shoving words in my mouth. In fact, I said quite the opposite:

I hate the drug laws and I don't think they're Constitutional, but every action has a consequence. Deal with it, and maybe don't sell weed.
