I'm Warming Up To Briles

I can guarantee you that this particular dude was not told that. Wasn't a particular reason for me to go to Brite. Now, granted that the fact that there were beautiful women at TCU after I got there was nice, but not the main reason I went.
Never said it was the main reason anyone went to TCU...just that everyone except some Brite students has conversations about whether there are (or are not) attractive people of the opposite sex at the school you will be attending. Whether that school is TCU, Rutgers, or Florida State...it happens and not something people need to pretent to be upset at one of our coaches for.

If you didn't have conversations like that, that is good information and I appreciate you sharing.

I believe these statements to be true:

1) Briles has largely been a recluse - 67, going on 68 - I can also respect his privacy while holding the entire Baylor administration accountable for the actions which took place under Ken Starr's leadership and also accept and forgive (as we are taught) that he was a part of a mistake(s) which I believe he regrets (let us not forget his non-disclosure), and;
2) He is proud of his son and son-in-law's accomplishments, as any father should, and wanted to share the moments with them, subtlety. (Thus the going on the field at O.U. after the game, while a no-no according to the O.U. agreement, but also him at one of our games, in TCU gear, in a Founder's Suite, no less, and arriving and leaving without attention.) and, lastly;
3) It seems like he just wants to be there for his kiddos - how dare one of us judge. I look in the mirror and am horrified at some the things I have done in life (minor or major - stealing candy from the store or lying to my parents, or perhaps things factors larger than either) but seek repentance. Yet, why is Briles not afforded this? I would venture that few, very few, saw him whn at the game here in Fort Worth. He is not incarcerated. He is not on bail. He is a free man who can do which he pleases (largely) and chooses to remain a low profile (rightfully so).

So why are we even talking abt this? If we continue, to level the playing field, pull up the tapes (or as Dion says, receipts) of our cats when I was in school @ TCU, pull up the "sells" to recruits. I am in no way justifying Briles' behavior, but "assuming" he was a part of something he would rather take back ... and if so ... I forgive him. If not, I still forgive him.

The attrnys on this forum can comment on the Pepper Hamilton "report" and "summary" vs. the Sandusky one (which I believe, both are privileged), but ... the Paterno family and Sandusky family is A-OK to attend games, but gosh-forbid Briles does?

We all pay the price for our misdoings, and often with interest, but lest us not judge.

This should be the last word on this subject

I went to TCJC for two years. I distinctly recall some people trying to recruit me there. They said, “Do you like credit hours? We have some super hot and cheap credit hours. They’ll do anything for you and go with you anywhere. They really like pre med students.”
I was sold. Those were some of the cheapest credit hours I’ve ever done in my life. I used them and abused them. Some of the sweetest and cheapest A I’ve ever had. Then I walked away from them for some more expensive credit hours at TCU. I left for expensive credit hours that were more marriage material. Ones I could tell my friends about and wear t shirts expressing my love for. I never once called those old credit hours again, but I do still have fond memories of them.

Every dude on this board was told, consider TCU cuz the girls are hot. We all thank the person with the recommendation. We didn't ostracize said person and pretend they were awful...especially since 100% of us repeated the observation...including the women.

Get over yourself tyler. Your Baylor hatred is no reason to extend it to TCU.
I don’t extend any hate to TCU. Just the trash they brought in as OC. It isn’t mutually exclusive to love TCU and think they made an awful mistake bringing in a guy with such a checkered past.

Bingo.

The "I don't know about you, but I would never do this or that, etc etc", or "you might be ok with that, but i never will be" kind of posts are the smh ones to me. Spare me the moral superiority.

Nobody really knows exactly what went on between Baylor co-eds. Lots of accusations, lots of investigations, lots of creative adjectives to describe what went on, very little actual detail, and honestly very little in the way of convictions. At the end of the day Art Briles didn't spend one day in jail and he was escorted out the door with $15M in his pocket. The whole thing was a mess and without knowing details I try and withhold too much judgement. I guess people want Kendal to say he's sorry or something. Like I said before, that's not going to happen. He's not going to apologize for things that either didn't happen or that he wasn't responsible for, nor should he. Apologies are admissions of guilt.
Agreed. Best to hire someone without all this baggage, then. There are lots of talented OC minds out there. But we go and hire a guy with all of this surrounding him.

Welp, convinced me to ditch the burnt orange.

This happened at every school in the SWC a long time ago, including TCU
I remember hearing about a “greeting squad” comprised of coeds given envelopes of cash to show recruits a great time. Ostensibly, a night on the town and a tour of Ft Worth:rolleyes:. 80s

The Pepper-Hamilton Report is still privileged. The release of the details is evidently so horrific that they paid Warden Art several million to settle, rather than release the report to show cause for his firing. Yet, he still loudly proclaims his innocence and professes his religiosity as a bulwark for this innocence.

Due to the remarkably incurious nature of Law Enforcement in McLennan County, the State of Texas, and the Federal Department of Justice, we really don't know what happened. However, indirect evidence like the PH Report and it's careful guarding indicate that it may well have been worse than we surmise.

While our current employee may have had a minor role in this episode, it is now irrelevant. He was hired. He now has defenders, based solely on his potential to win football games. Shortcomings of character are rationalized away for this endorphin rush of winning. He and his reputation are now a part of the TCU tapestry, and nothing can be done to expunge it.

It actually makes more sense that they paid Warden Art $15M to be the scapegoat in the whole thing.

Kendal was the WR coach and Passing Game Coordinator when all this was going down. Probably not too big a stretch to think he kinda just got caught up in the whole mess. It's a huge stretch to say he personally was/is a "rape enabler". That's way too damning a judgment for someone who doesn't have all the facts to make IMO.
