Lots of beautiful watches in this thread, and mine won't match most of them for aesthetics, but it's the best watch I ever had. Deep Jr. gave it to me several Christmases ago. It's a Citizen Eco-Drive. It's maintenance-free because the watch face is a solar panel that absorbs light and converts it to electricity to constantly recharge the battery. You just snap it on your wrist and forget about it.
Best-looking watch I ever owned is made of machined and polished granite with a tooled leather wristband. My wife bought it for me back in the 80's when she worked at Neiman Marcus. It was custom-made for Neiman's by Tuscany. Of course, you have to replace the battery once per year, but it's a really dressy watch. Still have it, though I no longer wear it.
First watch I ever owned was a $6, stainless steel, wind-up Timex my parents gave me in 1964 for my 8th birthday. I still have it, and it still "takes a licking and keeps on ticking."
About 16 years ago as a birthday gag, a good friend gave me a cheap novelty watch that has an image of Jesus on the face and the names of the twelve apostles at each of the twelve hours. The wristband and "crystal" are both made of plastic. Dang thing is so cheap, the battery would never seat properly and it stopped working all the time. I took it to an expensive jewelry store in Houston for repair, and they "fixed" it by putting a thick piece of foam tape inside the back to keep the battery pressed into place. When I went to the counter to pay, they said, "No charge. This was the most fun watch repair we've ever had."
