    OT- Texas Gulf Coast Fishermen

When I was a kid, approximately 1955-1965 every year my family would take a trip to Corpus Christi to fish. We also did some swimming in the ocean, but it was not all that much. We would go on the group fishing boats (usually the early morning time) and after 3 hours and come back with a good...

    Rap in 1954?

Actually, I guess is was called "hipster" back then. Enjoy and Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Thoughts on a couple of players.

Shad Banks looks like he is staying. I like his athleticism, but wondered why they did not rush him more. Hopefully Avalos will send him a lot. With his size and speed, I think he would make a great hybrid LB who is really good at rushing the QB. Cam Cook looked pretty good at times but only...

Avalos defense analysis when he was at Oregon

Pretty interesting. As a very successful coordinator, he probably has a good way of teaching the players.

OT: Lone Star Beer. Question from some of the older beer drinkers here.

I don't think I have had a Lone Star since the late 1970's. It is still the same crap that they brewed then? Texas makes some great beers, but LS and Pearl ain't one of them. I remember in the mid-70's when a friend of mine and I ordered LS by mistake and thought that the Coors on tap was...

Not to get ahead of myself, but...

Who would be a good replacement for Gillispie? I was thinking a G5 DC who has shown to be competent, a DC at a P5 school where TCU would be a step up. Who would it be? BTW, it looks like SMEW has a good one. But there is some reason why Sonny did not try to bring him.

    One big difference on offense...

Max Duggan had, I believe, 29 starts and lots of playing time before he took over the offense last year. Morris had 3(!) starts and of course Hoover had none to start this season. That makes a huge difference, especially with quarterbacks. I was really happy how Hoover has grown through his 6...

OT - very OT - Coin collectors out there?

Someone (not me, alas) was going through her kid's piggy bank the other day and found a coin which could have some significant value. Suggestions of where to go to sell it and not get ripped off?

What is the latest on Hodges?

Still out. Certainly a great chance for Shad Banks to get extensive playing time. Has anyone heard when Hughes will be back? Didn't they say it was a hand injury? I don't remember hearing of a LB or lineman being out so long due to a hand injury. I think of players playing with a cast but...

One thing that stood out to me about Hoover. Yes, another Hoover thread.

I don't recall any TCU QBs who obviously looked off the DBs. Look right, then quickly turn left and throw, etc. Seemed like our QBs have tended to lock on receivers the whole way, which they are not supposed to do. Sometimes it looked like he was going through a QB drill and a little...

The SMU game is the prostate exam. It has to be done and hopefully the results are not bad.

TCU and SMU: What difference would you be satisfied with?

Even different levels of satisfaction. Let me give an example for me. Remember, ever since the Georgia and Colorado games our national image has taken a beating. Unacceptable, of course is lose or even not cover the 6.5-point spread. CFN predicts 31-21, ten points, maybe. That would be OK...

OK, what is the arm gesture the defense uses? A horse?

I have seen it every game this year. Don't remember it from last year.

    Thank you

Clemson, LSU, Baylor, TT, (and to a lesser extent tOSU, Texas, BYU for looking bad to horrible teams while winning). I don't feel so badly the Frogs anymore. Still pissed about the effort and missed tackles, but at least we only lost by 3. Still 11 games to go for the Frogs. Go Frogs.

I am lost with the new format on gofrogs.com

Used to be I could go right to the Football portion of gofrogs and get the Fact Book, and each week the Game Notes. I don't see anywhere on the revised gofrogs website to find those things. Where are they located? Or rather, where will they be located?

Good football this afternoon and evening for TCU fans...I hope

You never know with preseason, but I can hope. AT 4:00 Jacksonville plays Dallas. Duce Vaugh is supposed to play a lot. I am anxious to see how he does against NFL talent, albeit mainly against backups. He is the only player from a non-TCU B12 team I am interested to see play. At 8:00...

    Rose Bowl?

When not part of the BCS or playoff games the Rose Bowl game has been B9/10 vs Pacific Coast/8/10/12, since the 40's, I believe. Due to the BCS or CFP, a few luck teams (like TCU and Texas) have been fortunate to play in the Rose Bowl. I would think the gutting of the P12 would mean the old...

    OT Blocks of Ice?

The best punches, especially alcoholic ones, are made using a block of ice instead of crushed ice. Then you get pure punch in your glass with no pieces of ice to dilute the drink or slow down your drinking. But I have noticed lately that grocery stores just have bags of crushed ice. One...

    Question for basketball fans

Especially those who were around 30 years ago. I have definitely reduced my direct participation with the Frogs the last few years as I age (75 now). In post-game, etc., how is Dixon with the fans? Tubbs was usually very available to chat with the fastbreak club after the games and other...

Way OT, but still not controversial

Well, there are those on the net who can make anything something to get incensed over. Anyway... I have read several things on various sites where the writer likes to refer to entities composed of many individuals in the plural. Like "TCU are a university in Fort Worth, Texas." I see that...
