Clemson is formerly Clemson A&M(Mining). Good fit for Dabo.

Doesn't matter who they hire. They will screw it up. 8 former aggy coaches went on to win a NC. aggy gonna aggy.

I keep checking this thread, hoping there's an actual announcement.

No, not really. I look for posts describing A'nM offers to coaches such as Leipold, Kleiman (sp?), or Matt Campbell being publicly declined. Emphatically declined.

What? No, Bear Bryant went on to win 6 and Gene Stallings went on to win 1 after Alabama hired them away soon after they arrived in college station. The other was back in the 20s I think.

But yes, they probably will screw this up.

To be fair, he did pretty well with it one season. He squandered it in only one season, probably a lot to do with losing about a dozen of the best players to NFL rosters.
Honest question: what do you think GP's record would have been last year?

All depends if they got all the breaks they did with SD. Lots of fortunate things went right last year that haven’t this year. Punting, FG kicking, et al. Not to mention Duggan carried the team on his back for most of last year with his gutty and gritty play. I’m not sure SD’s coaching did much or whether GP would have.

I am happy to say that I’m as big a fan of GP as there is. That said he wouldn’t have likely won as many games as they did with Sonny.

I also think that GP was immeasurably blessed by watching the team, his team, do what they did without him especially since it was mostly do to the way Sonny changed the vibe inside the program. GP likely accepted a lot of needed changes in a way he otherwise may have never have accepted them. I’m excited to hear that Gary is excited to get back to coaching and as a new man so to speak. An evolved Gary could be the best college football coach in the game. I’m looking forward to seeing him in action wherever he lands.
