MAKING CHILI - REFLECTING ON TCU FOOTBALL

It’s my cure all for the dog poop life can throw at you. I make chili. No beans, but that should be a separate thread.

My tailgate yesterday included my sister, nieces and nephews, Brewingfrog, Double D, guests from past TCU trips, and other friends. I would not have it any other way. I live for these Saturday Days at AGCS. It is my happy place.

I miss Pattersons Defense. You give a Patterson team 34 points, then the game is over.

TCU NEEDS A DEFENSE.

It’s time to fry up some onions and garlic in butter.

I’ll see everyone on Friday October 4 for Houston. 6:30 kickoff. Come on Defense!
God Bless and RIP!

Being a native Texan I suppose I’m genetically opposed to beans in chili: HOWEVER- Couple weeks ago I made a pot of pintos using brisket tallow for my fat. Wife wanted to make, “chili beans,” using some leftover tri tip and those beans. I made a weak effort to dissuade her, but what with her being a woman and all, I knew it was futile. That’s one argue I’m very pleased I lost- was awesome with some fresh onion and a little cilantro from la yarda on top.
FWIW love the cook off idea- would make for a fantastic new Frog tradition. . . Maybe around Homecoming?

Like BF said, goes on top, not, “in.” Point to where the bad Herb touched you.:D
Ed: I have had some green-chile and chicken chili made with it cooked in, was damn tasty although a little mild for my palate.

So sad you got that gene.

AncestryDNA scientists have discovered over 72,000 DNA markers associated with whether people like or dislike the taste of cilantro. Some of these markers are near two olfactory (scent) receptor genes on chromosome 11—OR10A6 and OR10A. Previous scientific research has found these genes are partially responsible for a strong like or dislike of cilantro.

Cause cilantro is delicious !
It's got a place in my chili, my stews, my soups, my menudo, etc.

Curious to know what other major character flaws might be associated with this genetic misfortune.

Then you are free to pass it by and load up on cotija cheese, diced onions, and spicy pickled garlic!
Wife has kin in Cotija, we’ve considered visiting (my interest is the cheeses) but sadly it’s all in cartel hands these days. There are few if any places in Mexico I’d feel good about visiting anymore. Damn shame because I used to harbor ideas of loving there in retirement.
