Decided im gonna stay part time and not go full time. Rather spend more time with kiddo and travel more as we're here max 2 more years max I think. (New contract cost for government is 2.5x wife's salary, I don't see them renewing it).

I know that several of you have had shoulder problems and we have posters that are in the medical field.... seeking advice.

I have had a nagging pain in my shoulder for about a month now that would come and go, but yesterday and this morning it has been awful. I tried doing "broom stick stretches" to open up my shoulders last night and I have been taking ibuprofen for inflammation. The pain is on the top of my shoulder where my collarbone connects to my shoulder and it feels like I tore something. I have self diagnosed (I know that dr.'s hate that, but I am in serious pain) the problem as an AC sprain. I don't feel like I snapped the bones, but I do feel like the bones are rubbing when I do anything even as simple as twisting a knob to open a door or turning a steering wheel.

My question is, should I see my chiropractor for treatment or my personal Dr. for an orthopedic referral? The chiropractor did a great job realigning my pelvis and lower back after many years of abuse in the field, but I'm scared that she may do more damage to an already sensitive weak point in my shoulder.

I felt fine when I left the gym, but after picking kids up and doing dad stuff, my shoulder just blew up out of nowhere. I have read to stay off of doing shoulder/chest exercises and to stay away from doing lat pulldowns behind the neck while resting the injury. Are there any other suggestions?

TL;DR Pimp in distress, need assistance from Dr's or people who have had shoulder issues.

Game 2 of rockets spurs will be very interesting. Rockets had a hell of a game last night. Hats off to them.
Yeah I expect the Spurs to come out blazing in game 2.

I sure as hell didn't expect that in game 1, but we came out like that against OKC and then promptly lost game 2.

I fell asleep before it was over, so I only saw a highlight of the incident at the end of the game. Seems ridiculous that Nene was ejected. He was just breaking it up, nothing aggressive about it. I know he technically touched the guy's neck when he did it, but the refs need to look past the letter of the law and more at the intent of the player's actions.

I'm not a shoulder expert.
This might help you understand some of the potential sources of your pain:

Only 2.5 times her salary? That's a pittance for our general government. They'll probably round up and make it 3x her salary and you'll probably be there for life.

I recently had a partial tear in my posterior anterior labrum after being rear ended around Thanksgiving. That experience with the shoulder leads me to recommend an ortho appointment. My chiropractor is actually the one who referred me. The ortho was the guy who works on the Texas Rangers so I had a lot more confidence we had the right treatment plan after that consult. I was fortunate it didn't require surgery, but if it did all the exercises I'd been doing for PT would have been worse and not better.

Do everything you can to avoid surgery. That's my only advice. But I'm not a doctor.

Cortisone shots help alleviate the pain temporarily but at the end of the day for me it was PT for 3 months. Lots of shoulder exercises using resistance bands did the trick. Its not 100%, but probably 95% or so which I consider a win without surgery. I still have a scraping like feeling whenever my right shoulder gets inflamed.

Get some Diclofenac. Its incredible for inflammation, way stronger than Naproxen. One of the best non opoid ones out there IMO

haha. Well for them the 350k a year doesnt seem worth it considering she can only work 1 shift in the hospital. Doctors can work all 3. Technically she can but air force regulations PAs differently.

Currently at my Dr.'s office. Waiting to see him so I can find out the next steps that I need to take. Thanks for the advice, everyone.

You might as well just put all of your SSN#'s on here. I feel like that's all we're missing at this point.

Its all rumor and conjecture. The only fact I know is her salary (which isnt listed) and the shift stuff. Thats nothing special, same for airforce PAs. Point is PAs are a luxury item for them, they dont technically need them. Makes life easier but you get the point

All of the information about their contracts is publicly available, except how much they spend. Probably varies every year.

I do not expect the rockets to shoot 3s that well or the spurs to shoot so poorly for the rest of the series but we will see

X-Rays negative. Sprained AC joint. 2-4 weeks recovery. No sling because it can cause me to suffer atrophy. Just have to suck it up and take some super strength anti-inflammatory and Tylenol codeine and not do anything strenuous with my upper body. If I don't begin to improve within a week then I go to a shoulder specialist.
