FWST: Why TCU men’s basketball team isn’t playing in a postseason tournament

There is no job opening at TCU for a men's basketball head coach despite some objections on here. Why would we want to fire a Frog who just us took to three straight NCAAs? Reminder: that has never happened before in the history of our school.

CJD is the head coach until he does not want to be here. Period. Since we denied him the chance to take the UCLA job, this is where we are: the first season of the rebuild by CJD. If we don't have the money to buy out our football coach that half the fan base hates with a passion or fire our baseball coach whose team missed the NCAAs two out of the last three years and just gave up 26 runs to a mediocre ASU team, then how in the hell are we going to find the cash to buy out our most successful bball coach ever?

Stop this delusion nonsense about firing a good basketball coach because he has one bad year. And it is so cute that now you care about TCU basketball after ignoring the team all year. Classy.
There is a glut of basketball idiots on this site.

We need to open an investigation into why we are so bad.

I thought it was a nice step forward, but considering he didn’t get out of the first round, no I did not celebrate him.
You mean first weekend, right? Wrong again. And who has more tourney wins than him at TCU?

Do you want to fire Saarlos, too? CJD has won more here as a head coach than CKS. And who is going to pay CJD's buyout? I'd like to see us next year before I join the Fire Jamie Club.

I can’t believe we’re hanging out hats on three tourney appearances.

What else has he done besides 9 straight seasons without a winning conference record?

Can we please stop celebrating NCAA appearances like they are a huge accomplishment? I get it is for you olds who suffered with terrible TCU basketball for decades, but it is not that big of a deal... especially since we play in one of the best basketball conferences.

One could argue, our conference schedule is the only reason we got in 1 or 2 of those years we went 3-straight.

Getting in should be the expectation, not the end goal. Jamie is doing the bare minimum by getting into the tournament. All his teams seem the same, fast paced, can't shoot. We aren't seeing much development or building.

Again, let's belittle our coach's achievements for the sake of an argument. Name another TCU basketball coach who accomplished that feat......................................(crickets).

To be clear, I wish we had gone further in the tourney. I am not worried about a .500 league record because all that is seeding for the NCAAs. We were one missed call from the Sweet 16 and lost another chance when our best big man demanded more money and quit right before the Big 12 tourney. The best is still ahead of us even though our NIL wallet does not sniff the top half of the league.

You may lost faith in Jamie, but I have not. It is that simple.

So settle for mediocre because even never done better.

Got it.

Disagree. The process of building a top program begins with multiple tournament appearances and that might include years that we don't. I think we should celebrate appearances as part of the process. Do we need to take the next step? Absolutely, but we need to see what those appearances will bring us WRT talent. If the youth serves us well, we could make deep runs into the tournament in the next few years and then the expectation is that we are always a tournament team, but we are not quite there yet.

Unfortunately, we are not a Houston or a Gonzaga where we started in a conference in which you can basically run the table and build a program, we are in a highly competitive conference with tons of parity and the process might look a little different.
