BY DREW DAVISON

TCU football is no longer in the mix to land former five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers, according to Anwar Richardson who covers the University of Texas for Rivals.

Richardson posted Wednesday that Ewers is deciding between Texas and Texas Tech and that TCU had been eliminated. Ewers visited Tech on Sunday, TCU on Monday and is expected to visit Texas on Saturday. A final decision could come by Monday, Richardson said.

And a few more details: Jarrett Stidham did end up at Auburn, led them an SEC West Division Championship after beating Georgia & Alabama, then lost to UCF in the Peach Bowl. He left with one year eligibility and was drafted by the Patriots in the 4th round (133 pick) of the '19 NFL Draft. He was named Brady's back up in '19 but only played in 3 games. In '20 when Brady left, his succession to replace him was stifled when they signed Cam Newton and re-signed Hoyer that dropped Stidham to 3rd string. Total number of games he's been in are 3 from '19 & 5 from '20. He had back surgery after the '20 season and was just activated on Nov. 9. He's in the 3rd year of a 4 year $3.15 million contract with included a $634,000 signing bonus. So far he's gone from 2nd > 3rd > 2nd string before '21, but is now behind Jones & Hoyer with no stats for this season.

Well, he's played in 3 more NFL games than I have since '19, so I guess he's not a COMPLETE bust...
