Is it a pitching fad now to have the leather laces on baseball gloves to be about 14 inches too long? . . I have noticed this on several pitchers this season.

Trying to create a distraction but glove is limited to 12" long for a pitcher including laces. Umps can force the pitcher to clip the laces if deemed too much of a distraction but rarely challenged by coaches unless really overboard.
