From the TCU press release....
The Big 12 Conference has announced its scheduling matrix for the next four years (2024-27) with all league members playing each other home-and-away at least once.

The scheduling model for the future 16-team Big 12 was developed with a priority on geography, historic matchups and rivalries as well as competitive balance. Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah begin Big 12 play next fall.

Hmm. Some things to like and some to hate.

And lots of opportunity to complain.

Five and four home games alternating?

Not my preference

Go to four and four

Use the SEC model
I'd rather play ten conference games and have balance at 5-5. The SEC model is to have multiple home dates with the likes of Chattanooga: no thanks.

These are some nice looking schedules: I'm thrilled. As I wrote at the time all of the Pac 12-Big 12 broke this summer, my frame of reference is that when I was on campus we were in the MWC. The ten-member Big 12 was fun, but you always knew OU and Texas were flight risks. These schedules look incomparably superior to games vs. SDSU, Colorado State, New Mexico, and Wyoming.

Nope - with the lack of power teams in the conference, you really need 9 conference games.
Agreed. 8 conference games is lame. Really lame. Especially in a league like the future Big 12. It's like everyone is in favor of us acting like a bunch of pu....ies.

Play as many good, competitive games as you can. We might lose some. BFD.

Looks like the ACC kept 8 conference games.

Few thoughts:
  • Losing Texas/OU at home in alternating years is a noticeable drag on our home slate every year.
  • Glad the Baylor game is protected, at least for the next few years.
  • 2025's home schedule is ROUGH.
  • At least one good Away game destination every year, so that's nice.

I wonder if the Arizona schools travel well? 2025 is counting on Prime still being at Colorado. 2026 looks like a better home slate. Travel will be different for the Frogs, which typically play a ton of games in state. Look at 2025 ASU, BYU, KSU, WVU, NC. That's a lot of miles.
