2025 MLB Thread

The reality is they have more of a need for a LH bat and there are options on the market. Will be interesting to see where it goes.

Alonso's stock has fallen, which is the o nly reason I bring him up for the Rangers. Is a 3 yr deal possible with him? I dunno but Boras is his agent and he's taken a lot of Ls the last couple years.

I don't think Burger was brought on to be the main guy at 1st. If there's not a deeper plan at 1st I could see JB split as DH/1B with Duran. I see him as a Mitch Garver type...brought in mainly for power. Either way, they need a long-term solution at 1st.
I think they are more interested in Joc. Sad to see Lowe go as he was important part of the 2023 magical run, but his usefulness window was drawing to a close as team control was coming to an end. They also needed somebody in the bullpen, and they seemed to have fallen in love Marlins (and apparently former Marlins) since they hired Urueta as the bench coach.

Not overly excited about this. Has more power than Lowe but not by much and provides about the same run production. In fact, Lowes career RBI high eclipses Joc's. And he's not going to to play the field much, if he does at all. For basically 7M more than Lowe, I don't see the value.

…because the Rangers had historically one of the worst combined seasons at DH on the history of baseball last year. Joc provides the power against righties and don’t be surprised if his platoon partner last year Grichuk gets signed too. They missed Garver terribly last year. They probably would have resigned him if they weren’t in the middle of the Bally’s bankruptcy. Of course that might have been a blessing in disguise based on Garver’s 24 season.

Yeah. Their offensive lineup got better these last couple of weeks.
yung, seager, semien, berger / Carter, langford, Garcia and now w pederson as the DH against righties.
*still need a consistent DH to roll out there against lefties. (Unless they want to put Burger at DH against most lefties and put Duran or somebody at 1B)

If everyone is healthy, put Josh Smith at dh.

Which Josh we gonna get? The one that flat carried us into the all star break, or the one who hit .210-something after the break?
I think he regressed to the norm and he’s gonna be a low .200s hitter that’s a great 25th man on the roster because he’s a multitool. But I don’t think he’s worth a DH slot

Please don't sign with the scheissing dodgers.

Gonna be the Padres and play w Yu Darvish is my bet. With him coming over as an amateur and not waiting 2 years to be considered a full professional free agent, the price tag of this deal is limited to International Bonus Pool. So he will start somewhere else this signing. And then go max out to the Yankees or Dodgers after a couple of seasons.

I'm ok with that. I'm a Yu Darvish fan and I like the Padres. I hope that's where he signs.

He ruled the yankees and mets out pretty quick, along with the Rangers and giants. I'm sure he'll end up with the dodgers at some point.
