Reseating question

Just had a buddy that selects today text me an overview of the current inventory.

Day 4 of selection day, and a seemingly concerning amount of seats still remain.

At this point, I'll be shocked if we come close to selling out our 25% capacity stadium for this season. Seems like most people, even if they decided to go through the selection process, are ultimately choosing to opt out. Kind of a bummer, but I don't blame anyone that chooses to sit this season out.

Curious what it looks like today. I was surprised at the availability when I selected yesterday morning.

It's awful. Buddy in my office selected this morning and there's still inventory in the west side 200s outside of the club. Except for the first few rows with chairs and 234 on the 50 yard line, the east side is mostly untouched. Tons of seats still in the north endzone, 300 level, and 400 level too.

Last day of selection and I don't think we've even sold half of what's available. This has turned out to be a disaster.

I just selected. Moved across the aisle from the bottom of 402 to 403 (so that I don't have to pay more). My group paid before the original deadline and I'm not going to pay more for better seats when they could still cancel the season.

Bought my seats yesterday, 1 row higher and 4 seats over from my original seats. Cancelled my parking, with no tailgating and limited attendance will be easy to find a place on the street. Guess will just tailgate at Buff Bros.

Alot of people must have picked this afternoon because the north endzone is completely sold out now.

Even if you are correct - which I doubt since 4 seats is already a huge reduction in tickets for the average account in the top 1000

If 50% of people opt out - you will still have less than 50% of season ticket holders get seats

Other schools have designed plans so that every season ticket holder that wants to attend a game will get the chance to at least 1 game this year even with reduced capacity

but as usual, TCU takes the easy way out to support the big money donors and goes with an all or nothing approach to getting tickets

and I will get tickets - so not like I am one of the people getting screwed- but I will give them all to the my kids and grandkids- ones that likely won’t

bumping this in typical KFC form to say “I told you so”

Doubt you get close to 50%
8000 seats aren’t going to far even with A max of 4 seats per person
Sounds like just about everyone, including TCU, severely overestimated the demand for this season.

I'm not pretending to know how things should have been handled differently, but pretty disappointing how this ultimately turned out. And obviously not all TCU's fault... plenty of fault falls on our fans base. Either way, not a good look that we couldn't even come close to selling 8,000 season tickets.

In hindsight, maybe should have let accounts have more than 4 seats. No tailgating, mask requirements, full priced tickets and essentially zero marketing content from our media team for this year's current team certainly didn't help.

At this point, I'm sure they'll let people buy as many tickets as they want... problem is that those additional tickets won't be by their first 4 tickets.

I feared the demand might be down this year. The only downside to giving up your seats was if this virus disappears in two months you wanted your seats but already passed them up. I deferred all of mine because I’m in Houston with young kids and didn’t think I would make many games in this environment. If I could I would cross my fingers there would be a way to get a single game ticket. Now it’s looking like if you have decent priority points the ticket office would be silly to not just give you a ticket for the cost sans donation.

Was I supposed to type something here?
The Chinese virus is disappearing now. There might well be demand later on, and an increase in capacity as well. Everybody will have to stay on their toes!

My kids (who won't go this year) can always layer up. But I've got 2 quarters tops in the heat before them (and the wife) complain me into submission.

I spent a long time reading that post trying to figure out what a quarter top was and why you were wearing 2. pictured spaghetti straps that shows the mid drift.

You're going to blame the fans for not buying a ticket to a game with no tailgating and you are supposed to wear a mask the whole time?
No. I get it. I’m still torn about if I should have gotten tickets myself, so I certainly think it’s reasonable for any fan that decided to sit this season out.

Even still, not being able to come close to selling out 25% of our stadium isn’t a great look. It’s especially bad after people were complaining that lots of fans that wanted to attend weren’t going to get access to tickets.

My point was that while TCU clearly didn’t properly assess true demand for tickets (I’m not really sure how they could have) when they laid out the seat selection process, there’s also some fault that lies on our fan base for, as a whole, being unwilling to support the team despite some obvious inconveniences.
