I think you're seeing, with all these firings/openings occur, the main reason Kingsbury still has a job.

As Peacefrog mentioned above, some school is going to get the short end of the stick and had Tech opened up I think it would've already been an uphill battle for the school although maybe in that situation they would promote Gibbs to head coach.
