Guys lost in his thoughts right now.

very conflicted, kinda sad to see.

what he thought was a trusted a confident choice at OC has betrayed him and now he has some decisions he’s not wanted to make for a year or two.

This is a very huge turning point in TCU football....
Dont know by how much, but Meach was a better play caller. Dont know whathappened, but GP sent the wrong guy packing. If he wanted an RPO, he still should have sent Cumbie packing.

I think there is merit in the concept that GP is concerned he went the wrong direction.

He couldn’t complete a pass in the first half against Purdue or SMU. Then throws for 300+ vs Texas and runs all over OU [/debate]

he’s thrown into triple coverage the past two games for multiple INTs and hasn’t thrown above 60% consistently.

he can run, but he can’t figure out the right speed on his throws as every announcer has mentioned this season.

60% completion would be great. He didn’t complete 50% today. Would be barely over 50% if you include the 2 interceptions.

I think the coach that needs to be on the hot seat along with the offensive coordinator, offensive line coach, and wide receiver coach is our strength & conditioning coach. This is the second year I thought TCU, with better recruited talented team right under OU and UT, looked smaller than what they should be. I'm hoping our S&C coach gets help or TCU makes a change. The whole S&C staff needs a hard look at and philosophy change.

Then couldn’t complete a pass the last 3 games. So did he improve. Look at the passing stats.
Did he at least literally complete more than 1 pass the last 3 games? Yes. That’s better than we saw at the beginning of the year. His reading defenses was not consistently at the level it needs to be but he showed much more touch on the ball. He had some dimes down the stretch.

So yes he absolutely improved. Defenses countered with looks they showed him and that’s the next step he needs to take. But he was missing wide open receivers by miles his first 4 games.

There is not anyone looking at objective tape that thinks he didn’t improve from where he was at first four games to last four.

Let’s hope he has a new coach to put him in better situations next year. He’s got grit, but he needs more than that.

An announcer in the game today pointed out that the offense had attempted the same play on three to four different occasions, with the same failing result. He then said sometimes you have to scrap plays and move on from them.

That observation, in my humble opinion, encapsulated the play calling all year. We kept trying to force plays where they didn't fit, and when something was working we didn't maximize it. Instead of using his eyes and getting a feel for the game, he would call plays that on paper should have worked but weren't working in the games. Cumbie hasn't developed that "feel" for a game yet that allows him to trust his eyes. He calls plays by the numbers. He, too, is going through growing pains as an OC, and yes, they hurt.

Unfortunately, Gary is clueless on how to win a game these days. This is the reason he's ready for the season to be over. Six of seven games were lost in close games that a coach could have made the difference. The coach panicked in all of them, blitzed everyone at the wrong time trying to play hero...and lost all of them.

He kept this joke of an offense after the same crap last year with zero attempt to change the problem.

Mr. Riverboat gambler is sitting at home due to the man in the mirror...and is giving us all the finger.

He’s ready for the season to be over because at this point in the program he only cares about conference championships and playoff chances. He knew after Kansas State both those were gone so he wanted to be able to make changes for next year but doesn’t believe it’s right to fire coaches mid season which I agree with having worked in college athletics.

Firing coaches mid season gives kids a reason to quit.
