GoFrogs: Construction to Begin on AGCS Premium Seating Expansion

Additional Information/Renderings

FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Jeremiah Donati has announced that construction is set to begin, with completion in time for the 2019 season, on the $100 million premium seating expansion of Amon G. Carter Stadium.

The Amon G. Carter Stadium expansion project calls for two new levels of luxury seating above the current upper deck on the east side of the stadium. The new Legends Club and Suites will include 48 loge boxes with two private clubs, over 1,000 club seats and 22 luxury suites. There will also be a 100-foot outdoor balcony overlooking Frog Alley, the TCU campus and downtown Fort Worth as well as vast additional premium space that can be used for outside events on game days. Additionally, a new video board will be installed in the north end zone.

While fundraising continues on the project, the financial threshold to begin the project was reached.

"This is more than just a football project, this facility will be used to the benefit of all 21 of our sports, our campus community and Fort Worth," Donati said. "It's an appropriate expansion, with all the cutting-edge technology, to what is already the finest football stadium in the country. Our fans will enjoy an unrivaled game-day experience.

"Philanthropic support has been tremendous thus far. The project has attracted many new and younger donors to campus, some contributing to TCU for the first time, which was one of our objectives in the fundraising process."

In addition to the new Legends premium seating and suite areas, the expansion of Amon G. Carter Stadium will include meeting space for corporate events to provide year-round use of the facility. The new capacity for Amon G. Carter Stadium will be 47,000.

"Our stadium expansion project will have a positive impact on our recruiting efforts, plus our fan experience," TCU head football coach Gary Patterson said. "This project will also further strengthen our University's foundation going forward in the near future."

Amon G. Carter Stadium, TCU's longtime football home, reopened in 2012 after a $164 million rebuild. It coincided with the Horned Frogs' debut season in the Big 12.

A limited number of Legends club seats and suites are still available. To make a purchase for the 2019 season or to learn more about the different offerings, call the TCU Frog Club at 817.257.7700, email tcufrogclub@tcu.edu or visit TCUinHiDef.com.

Awesome. We need to get to 50,000 capacity somehow as the official number before 2024. It appears the Big XII is stable for now, but if there is drama before realignment talk, schools like Texas Tech will point at our stadium size as THE reason that TCU is not worthy.

Starting to look like mini Memorial Stadium at UT.

Not so much, unless the sun starts setting in the east. At straight up noon that time of year you’ll need to be right under any over hang. As every minute passes you’ll have the sun coming at you from your left front.

Let’s get back to selling out season tickets in the stadium we have (+2k new seats) first.

This addition should be a great enhancement to the exterior and interior of the Carter's east side. Prior to this, the east side of

the stadium has always appeared somewhat unfinished when compared to the west side. This should provide the interior of

the stadium with a greater feeling of enclosure.

Absent cutting admission standards in half and handing out degrees after two years for 1.5 GPA's and above, TCU will remain a small private school with a small alumni base in Texas.

I guess we could have a statewide test in all the Texas trailer parks and give free tickets and a Tshirt to the first 60,000 rudest fans.

That might work.
