With Class

Not so many years ago, a Big12 FB power and college administration was brought to their knees in shame, by a winning at any cost consequence head coach. We've heard of those pthat would consider hiring this same individual- winning at the cost of integrity-loosing moral conscience.
We Alumni look to our TCU administration to uphold the values of a tradition of class and integrity- players Sammy Baugh, Bob Lilly, Davey O'Brien, Andy Dalton, coaches Dutch Meyer, Abe Martin, and our Gary Patterson. TCU owes giving CoachP his well deserved gratitude- a formal recognition from us all. God bless CoachP.

I agree that "class" is needed. But the world of college football is changing and changing fast. Trying to just keep up with no certain pathways is wrong headed. A new coach needs to be proficient in recruiting, portal acquisitions, and player fees for selling themselves to advertisers. Having class cannot mean just following the rules any more because many of the rules are being determined now and in the future such as the football playoffs. Class now means being a factor/force in formulating the rules for all these new dynamics. TCU needs to be forward thinking and planning when establishing a new football coach and staff. in this era class comes from being a leader not a follower.

I'm sure he will get a recognition at some point. However, folks may want the dust to settle a bit. It seems likely that GP will be coaching again in the future. He could take a year off and then go, or go to a school soon. He was not done coaching, that seems obvious. Keep in mind that he saw a team at the start this season who had massive talent. Then the injury bug hit the team for yet another year in a row. Likely he is wondering what could have been. He does not seem like a guy who wants to look back and ask what if. This move could be good for both parties. If he coaches again, he wins again. He's that good of a coach. Time away helps him refocus and come back with a new plan.

Are you saying Briles is being considered?

I was fortunate to have TCUs 1st Dean M.J.Neeley School of Business, as my advisor. Never once did he preach to us that winning at any cost was our life goal in business. Making real valued contributions was considered success.
The contributions to TCU of CoachP are significant in our success story, not just in sports, but as a university of integrity.
