This week’s other games…

People keep throwing Oklahoma in their with Texas. I haven't seen anything at all that leads me to believe that they've solved the multitude of problems that they had last year. I guess we'll see on Saturday how we look at home against SMU but Oklahoma looked incredibly underwhelming in that game and their other 2 games were against Jr High schools.

And let's not act like Texas is above totally blowing this thing in conference play either. No one at all would be surprised if they ended up losing 3 or 4 games again despite the win over Alabama. We've seen it from them for 14 years now. They're the clear favorite right now obviously but I don't trust Sark or that program at all.

I'm just not on this train of Texas and OU are the clear class of the conference like everyone else seems to be. Maybe that's the way it will end up but I've been watching football long enough to know that about half the teams you think are good in September end up not being there by the end of October. Right now I still think you could pick a name out of a hat between those two plus TCU, Tech, and Kansas St for who will end up winning the conference. And who knows maybe UCF even makes some noise although I highly doubt that one.
Based on what I've seen so far this year, I have a really hard time envisioning UT losing three or more games this year (bowl game excluded). They've got 4 true road games left and three of them are Baylor, Houston, and Iowa State. Some teams are going to have to pull off pretty big upsets in Austin for them to get to 3 or 4.

Usually they would have laid a major egg by this point in the season already. I do think this team of theirs is a good bit stronger than most UT versions of the past 10-15 years, but God do I hope I'm wrong.

How bad is Okie St.? Got their butts kicked at home to South Alabama. I think Gundy gets fired mid-season.

Plus Tech, Baylor, Iowa State and Cincy looking like dog crap. KSU losing to Missou is bad too.
Big XII looking pretty poor this season.
Best teams so far are Texas, OU, BYU and UCF. We got blindsided by Colorado, but I think we'll be fine, considering all that we lost from last year.

UT has to travel to Fort Worth November 1, making 4 road games for the Horns....While leading the modern series over Texas 8-3, I think TCU will be struggling to keep up with UT this year, even at home....

Every man for himself. scheiss the rest of the Big 12, I hope they all suck for eternity. The only way this works out well for us in the end is if TCU is good. The rest of the league can kick rocks.
Exactly. Clemson was never hurt by a weak ACC. The only thing that matters is how TCU performs.

And it's not like the Big 12 is suddenly going to sink down to being the 5th or 6th best conference. We're the clear number 3, and honestly even if the conference was super strong it will never overcome the perception of the Big Ten being #2 anyway. So a handful of results here and there in the conference aren't actually going to make any kind of real difference. I understand so many of us who went through the Mountain West days got conditioned into this mindset of needing the conference to be as strong as possible but now we're in a totally different place.

I think Texas is good. I'm not predicting that they'll lose 4 games. I definitely think they lose at least a couple along the way though and it wouldn't be a shock to me if they lose more than that.

Obviously their win at Alabama was huge for them. But the way Alabama performed against freaking USF last week has to take at least a little bit of the shine off that win for Texas. Maybe that was just one flukey week for them and they'll be right back in Atlanta once again in the first week of December but if last week was any indication then this could potentially be the worst Alabama team in a very long time.

We'll see how it all plays out though. My main point is just that we actually know very little about all these teams this early in the season. Some haven't played a single good opponent yet, most who have only played one good opponent. And by the end of the year we may look back at a lot of those teams that we currently think are good with a very different opinion. Just look at the Frogs last year against OU and Oklahoma St. At the time those felt like they could potentially be two of the biggest games of the year but by the end of it all they were just a couple 6-6 teams.

Arizona State lost to Fresno State, 29-0. They had eight turnovers including five interceptions. The Sun Devils are ranked the worst team in Power 5 football.

Sun Devils coach Kenny Dillingham told reporters that QB Jaden Rashada who did not play, is expected to miss four to six weeks with an injury that has bothered the true freshman since he was in high school.

Rashada played the week before but they lost to Oklahoma State and the Cowboys may be the 2nd worst team in the Power 5.
