Texas Top 200

The lists are good and fun to watch. I asked Feisty awhile back if the Frogs were getting better recruits or the Frogs recruits were rated higher because of the respect the recruiting gurus are developing for the players TCU recruits. Different but similar to a recruit that Texas gets is rated higher. He said it was probably a combination of both.

The Frogs recruit a little different than some of the other schools. They look for the Frog factor. That is a player who is both talented but also a good person and they watch how a player performs at the end of a tough game who rises to the situation and responds when they are tired and the game is on the line. They also want a young man who weighs his options and in the end wants to be a TCU Frog.

I did graduate from Texas and that is my team. I'm not putting this list out there in any way trying to pimp UT or denigrate TCU. I actually have a lot of respect for the Horned Frogs program. I think when it comes to TCU commits, either most ranking systems out there undervalue a TCU commit or the players just flat out get coached up better. The results speak for themselves. I really like Hatten, Gildon, and Sanders and think they are underranked.

I really do this mostly to bring attention to those of us who love high school football and by going 200 players deep give you an idea on who to watch for if you're going to catch a high-school game (by the fall, hopefully it will be double that long - probably still 10-15 more websites will release rankings over the course of the year). I also like to bring recognition to all those people and websites who cover Texas recruiting. There's a lot of interesting sites that cover football across this great state.

My apologies if you are who you say you are.

We have a troll who changes names more often than Dennis Rodman used to change hair colors. His posts were always recruiting-based, usually with long lists of players/teams in ALL CAPS and in colors.

This list shows what's wrong with recruiting lists.

For example, on every HS team, 5 of 22 starters are OL. Same is true for every college team.

Yet this list only has 26 of 200 dedicated to the OL. Why? Because OL are hard for jock sniffers who make lists to grade.

Compare offensive skill positions. On every HS, 6 of 22 starters are offensive skill guys. Same with every college. Yet this list has over 80 of 200 dedicated to skill guys. And that doesn't count the "athletes".

Come February, what you'll find is that quite a few OL not on this list will sign with major college programs.

I actually agree with this 100%. Same goes with DTs in my opinion. Hard to identify IMO which big uglies will translate to the next level or perhaps knowing what makes up a good lineman. Could also be harder to just figure out whose body will continue to develop and be a successful lineman - bigger miss ratio.

I think for the most part linemen aren't seeing the field for at least a couple of years after they've been in a college weight program where your skill position players oftentimes see the field from day one. I'm always amazed at how many WRs seem to be on these lists - almost universally by far the most represented position on any given list.

I think this list will look quite a bit differently by signing day.

I get that. As a horn fan, I realize I"m a guest on here and understand if and when I become unwelcome. Since I take something your mod here takes time to produce for my own benefit, I just like to give a little back from what I do with his data. I like this board - seems like the best TCU board out there and Feisty does some great breakdowns of recruits on his blog.

Randy Rodgers.

I like Randy's stuff. He's the guy who produces Dave Campbell's Top 300 and Super Teams list every year. http://www.texasfootball.com/recruiting/ Always get the Texas football magazine when it comes out in the summer. The website has been redesigned as well. If you don't follow the recruiting blog from the website, I recommend it.
