Can someone please pull up the article? I can't.

But I just read the article on baylorfans.com and the article had a quote straight from the SEC stating that SEC Presidents have discussed expansion and do not want to go to 16 teams.

SEC expansion will stop at 14.

TEXAS A&M and
FLORIDA ST (or CLEMSON if Univ of Florida objects to FSU)

Looks like MISSOURI is being left at the altar once again.

No reason to go to 16 now. Take thier time and talk OU into joining. That's who they want more than Mizzou.

uggg, do you guys ever read articles outside of this forum, ou has already declined sec invite, they arent going anywhere without xerox state and stoopie has said the only thing he cares about is winning championships, and the big 12 gives them the best chance

I was reading the same thing (about SEC slowing down), but then this happened:

Brent Zwerneman: "It's quiet by design on A&M's front today, while misinformation spews from all sorts of places. Ags still on course for SEC"

Tim Brando is saying the same thing. Those are both trust-worthy guys.

From what I can tell, the SEC isn't offering anything until they can nail down the 14th school. The talks slowed down because Florida State and Clemson are in negotiations, but A&M is definitely the 13th team. Once the 14th is nailed down, it'll happen.

Apparently A&M BOR gave the president the green light to make a deal without them having to vote on it.

Keep grasping straws, buddy. It sucks to not be wanted, huh?

DISASTER SCENARIO FOR TTECH IS -

SEC takes A&M and FLA ST for now and then cools their heels for awhile in a gradual effort to lure OKLHOMA and OKLAHOMA ST to the SEC later on.

In that scenario TTECH is screwed because the PAC 12 would never take TTECH on it's own merits. If there is no package deal TTECH will be as screwed as GAYLOR is.

And there is no way the PAC will accept the Longhorn network so UT isn't ever going to the PAC !!

TTECH may be running out of options here !

I would pay good money to watch TTECH play MARSHALL COLLEGE in a few years, for the CONF USA championship !! Funny stuff !

That's great but KANSAS and KSU will be the next ones out the door. What then? Mizzou won't be far behind. At that point UT will finally realize that independence is far preferable to a Conf with SMU TULSA and RICE.

TODAYS RUMORS - KANSAS is now in "serious fact finding discussions" with the Big East and would go to the Big East in a 3 way package deal being KANSAS, MISSOURI and KANSAS ST, with IOWA ST as the alternate if Mizzou opts out for greener pastures.

Which would assure that UT declares they are going INDY.

At that point only BAYLOR and TTECH are left holding their PUDDS in their hand with nowhere to go.

HILARIOUS !

The new Big East combined football and basketball TV deal that is being negotiated currently by Big East and networks is rumored to be a potential $20 mil per team (with KU, MIZZOU, and KSU aboard).

Which is why the 3 Big 12 teams are a package deal. The networks are insisting that KU, MU, and KSU (with Iowa ST as the alternate) come aboard as a package so the TV deal can reach the $20 million goal that would stabilize and solidify the Big East Conf as a strong league.

The networks are actually leading the charge on this package deal of the 3 Big 12 teams to the Big East.

And it could happen fairly soon.

10 million was just offered and rejected by Big East.

That bid was a one network, lowball, non-competitive trial ballon offer, but other networks haven't bid yet. The bidding process always includes multiple offers by multiple networks in a bidding war, so analysts stated that this bid was not in the ballpark of marketplace demand. It is estimated by ESPN that the Big East will command about $14 - $16 mil per team (for basketball and football) and that estimate is without any possible expansion teams.

With KANSAS, MIZZOU, and KSU aboard, ESPN estimates that the Big East would easily reach $20 mil per team especially with the spectacular and wildly exciting addition of KANSAS to what is already far and away, the best basketball Conf in the country.

The Big East is also currently talking with BOSTON COLLEGE about a possible move to the Big Easy. BC is and has been, very unhappy in the ACC.

All that translates into a very conservative estimate of $20 mil per team if all those teams join the Big East.

now you know.............the rest of the story!

If the SEC takes an ACC team, it would be best for the Big East that the SEC take Florida State. There would be a tendancy for the ACC to want to replace FSU with a Florida school. UCF or USF are the only possibilities. Either way the BE will have USF or UCF.

Nonetheless, the SEC only going to 14 teams is good news.

Can you provide a link to these so=called facts? I've searched all the major sports news websites and have seen none of this reported. How about a link??? Proof??

Figured.

From Sporting News:

"There is a strong belief that SEC presidents would have no interest in adding a 14th team from a state in which there is already an SEC team. That would eliminate Florida State, Clemson, Louisville and Georgia Tech as potential expansion targets."

I hope the relocation will help revitalize New Orleans. They have still not recovered from the devastation of Katrina.

Putt -

Keep reading in that article that you linked.

The SEC Commish also stated - "the SEC has no plans to continue expansion to 16 teams and the SEC will stop expansion at 14 teams".
