Can't advance a fumble
I wanted to post about this as well. I thought that the rule was if a ball carrier fumbles the ball and the ball advances past the point of the fumble and the same team recovers the fumble, the ball is placed at the point of the fumble and not at the point of recovery. Otherwise, there could be a case where a player is about to be tackled and he "fumbles" the ball to his teammate that is further down the field. I could see a lot of fumbles happening if that's the case.

That has nothing to do with the quoted situation...

That’s only on 4th down.

I don't mind a question that is off topic. Somebody else may have the same question but doesn't want to ask about it. If I don't know the answer, I can go to one of my many resources and ask them about it. And if I don't know, I will say so. I'm old and the memory is fading, especially on trivial stuff like football rules.

@Zebra Frog , quick question. Unsportsmanlike conduct is obviously subjective to some degree. Why would they call a player for trying to rip the ball from the ball carriers hands after the whistle? Happens every play, every game. Seems like Camara was randomly targeted for that.
Yes, it can be subjective. I don't think the official that made the call was in a very good position to see the whole play. Junior high officials are taught to not flag anything if you didn't see all of it.

Week #2 Rules Question:

1/10 @ A-35. 0:51 seconds remaining in the 2nd quarter. A19 runs beyond the neutral zone where he pitches to A33, who catches the ball and carries to the A-45 where he is tackled inbounds. Video show tha A19 released the ball at the A-37 and it first touched A33 at the A-38.

a) A, 2/15 @ A-30 - clock starts on the Ready
b) A, 2/14 @ A-30 - Ten Second Runoff and clock starts on the Ready
c) A, 2/13 @ A-32 - clock starts on the Ready
d) A, 2/13 @ A-32 - Ten Second Runoff and clock starts on the Ready

I wanted to put a poll in here, but failed miserably in my effort, so here is the question and feel free create it as a poll so answers can be anonymous.

At the end of the USC - LSU game, an LSU DB was called for targeting near the sideline. The call was confirmed by Replay. Do you think the call was targeting or not?
Saw in real speed, not replay, but like it was. Not sure what changed constitutes launching, but it seemed like others they have called. But those kids a crazy fast now, so …

Was that what happened? I thought he was not letting go of AC’s hand and he got the flag because where he out his other hand when trying to pull free. Makes sense about trying to strip the ball, I guess.
