Reno Gazette-Journal: Nevada informs WAC of desire to leave next summer

University of Nevada President Milton Glick has sent a letter to the WAC informing the conference of Nevada's intention to join the Mountain West Conference for the 2011-12 school year, he said Thursday night.
The Wolf Pack announced at a news conference on Aug. 18 that it had accepted an invitation to join the Mountain West Conference, but it was not known then if that would be in 2011-12 or 2012-13. Glick said during the news conference that ideally, Nevada would like to move in 2011, but the school missed the July 1 deadline imposed by the WAC and could possibly face a fine from the WAC.
"Nothing is different than what we said before," he said. "It's not a unilateral decision. We expressed our plans. The ball is in their court." ...
