Six is an interesting number, though. It's the NCAA minimum to continue in existence as a conference. Maybe this is just round one and they add another four or so from the MWC later, but maybe they really are leaving room for the 4-6 schools in the ACC that won't get into one of the other three leagues. Cal, Stanford, SMU, BC, Wake Forest, Syracuse would make a coast-to-coast conference that is at least better than the AAC.

I think that is their forward-thinking idea. Still a level below the Big 12, but not a complete joke of a conference either.

Should be interesting. 2 more is required, but they really need at least 4 to get to 10 teams to be viable. You are very correct, they cant just sit and be west coast centric. They must look eastward. Going to 10 will definitely happen.
None of this will bring Power level quality or money, but it will certainly be more than the $4m the Mtn West pays. They have the CW & Prime Video as media.
The M-West requires $18m and a 2 year notice, or $36m & 1 yr notice to exit the conference. The PAC has already said they will pay a significant portion of that fee.
