For me it just boils down to my perception of watching Dykes over the years; he doesn't strike me as a kick ass and take names coach, or an offensive genius, or an up and coming phenom, or must see tv, or even interesting in any way at all. He reeks of a journeyman type coach that you wouldn't ever even notice if he retired or quit and started selling insurance etc. I just think TCU deserves better and had earned better notwithstanding the past few years. At least hiring Herman or Sanders would generate some excitement, publicity, curiosity, and the possibility of something good happening. With Dykes his record of mediocrity is well known, habitual over time, and expected to continue at this stage of his career.

Did we really search though? It seemed like Dykes was basically given the job even though Deion and others got interviews. I hate Deion but he would have been a better stop gap at this point. We probably have Travis Hunter on the team at least. Probably don't make the natty but that hasn't done [ Finebaum ] for us anyways since then.
