KZPS broadcasts at 99,000 watts.
1190 broadcasts at 50,000 watts.

Same for me. I could listen on WBAP easily from 120 miles away. I’ve picked up WBAP as far as 300-400 miles away from FW. I can’t get KZPS until I’m within about 60 miles.

The reality is that AM is a nearly-dead medium. The auto manufacturers don't want it. It interferes with EV motors. Ford announced last year they're eliminating it from all new vehicles. There's a movement within Congress to mandate AM stations in all cars but it has yet to be brought up as a vote or attached to any other piece of legislation.

We’d get it all the way to Omaha when I was growing up.

Not sure how this makes any sense.

Many years ago, we let Baylor sneak in and become the broadcast partner with WBAP. Not sure all the details of how it went down, but Baylor let the contract expire and TCU jumped back in. Baylor officials were livid because they had let WBAP get away from them. I won't be surprised if Baylor or some other school is broadcast on WBAP next year.

WBAP can be heard at night for hundreds of miles. WBAP is still primarily a Fort Worth station, but it will soon be broadcasting games for an out of town competitor. Big mistake.

Terrestrial radio is dying. As more and more people stream music in their cars the radio isn't used as a radio anymore it's simply a bluetooth connection for the phone.

Is there an explanation for this change? I'd like to hear it! Owners of radio stations, large and small, do not know what is in store for them, the FCC is a comclopberration of idiots since Biden administration. I've been a huge supporter of WBAP for years!!

I think it comes down to the fees that Learfield has to pay stations for air time to broadcast the games.
