BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Former Texas A&M head football coach Dennis Franchione has co-authored a book with is daughter-n-law Rebecca Franchione titled ‘Tough Times Never Last - The Coach Fran Story’.

To preorder his book, click here.

This is the what the TCU Press is saying to promote the book:

Dennis Franchione, known as Coach Fran, is one of the winningest coaches in college football history. He successfully turned around football programs at every stop during his head coaching career. From his first job as a head coach of a high school near his hometown to a Sun Bowl victory at TCU and stints at Alabama and Texas A&M, this book takes readers behind the scenes of what it was like to run the show on the field, as well as the tragedies he faced throughout his life and how he overcame them. Readers will join former players and coaches on the sidelines as they relive some of the greatest games in college football in that era and get to hear some of the greatest football stories never told. Coach Fran shares the good, the bad, and the ugly of the most beloved game in the country. From his own personal tragedies to the bright lights of college football, Coach Fran’s story is one of hope and the ability to do anything in life if you have the determination and drive to make it happen.

Wednesday night I had the opportunity to visit with Fran about his book.

In the 3rd quarter!

I remember an Aggie d-lineman showboating after a tackle when they were down about 70-0, LOL.
Always blows my mind that someone can be so completely clueless and have so little self-awareness that they showboat for an individual play when getting drilled on the scoreboard. Even if you want to, you have to realize what a dumbas$ you’ll look like if you do it.

I MC’d a portion of the Coach of the Year Awards banquet in Houston, the year Fran was nominated.

He refused to attend the event unless they agreed to introduce him as, “the Head Coach of Alabama.”

Since I was working as one of the hosts, I knew I would have backstage access, so I wore my TCU tie.

When I was introduced to Fran, he smiled and said, “Are you an alum?” I responded, “Yes! I’m Proud of TCU!”

He grinned again and said, “You should be.” To which I responded, “So should YOU!”

One of the other MCs whispered to me, “That was cold brother, but I LOVED it!”

Go Frogs!
