CDC said just last week that CJC will be back next year...I doubt that Bruce Pearl's firing today has any bearing on the decision he already made.

OK, he may have said that, but things have changed. Would you think any less of him if he came back and said, "Not so fast, my friend!"

According to this sight, Sports-Reference.com , CND had a better record after three full seasons with a winning percentage of .456 (42-50) verses .396 (38-58) for CJC.

Looks like Tubbs never had a losing season...man, I miss those days! Hurling newspapers, raucous crowds, streamers - he put the "Run" in DMC. Sigh.

As to Pearl...I really like him,
but it's not nice to lie to the
NCAA...May be OK to conceal things,
in grey areas, but it's stupid
to flat-out lie.

Pearl's not the guy... you don't flat out lie and get a gig the next day at TCU.

CJC will have his chance over the next year or 2 to sink or swim. Hopefully, he swims & we start making an impression in the Big East... I'm pessimistic about that, but that's my hope.

It's funny though how I continue to hear longing for the days of old. Yes - attendance was better w/ Billy... even had a FEW sellouts (and I was there). Fun basketball to watch too and some generally good (by TCU standards) teams.

However, on the real College Basketball stage, TCU is an ant on an elephant in terms of performance. When the highest point of a TCU basketball career is getting upset by FSU in the opening round of the tourney (for the only invite in about 2 decades or more), then those "glory days" aren't all that glorious.

Can we overcome in the Big East? Maybe... but we could be quite a bit better in terms of basketball ability & still finish dead last in that league.

However, there's no doubt that we've got to try - and that probably means a new coach that can recruit here w/ the right talent (hopefully more home grown) that can start to build a basketball tradition.

If CJC has a saving grace, it's the fact that the northeast is his stomping ground, and he knows the lay of the land for recruiting up there. Other than than that, we haven't even won in the MWC. We can also expect to be spanked like a red-headed porn star for 4-5 years upon entering the BE. Are we prepared for 7-8 years of losing under CJC?

That's why I thought it would be better to bring in someone new now, give'em a running head start with at least one season in the MWC, and start fresh in the BE. But if CJC is our guy, his career coaching record is about to nose-dive.

Add the fact that the MWC placed two teams in the Sweet 16, proving what many have said--this year was an anomaly so it's not worth panicking and firing your coach. Contrary to what many have said, I do see improvement--in the digging deep and fighting to the end department. That bodes well IF we can improve our base of talent over the next two years.

You can't change a culture of entitlement like CND left overnight. And as far as I can see, Christian's done what he has to do to change it--and it's left him fighting with one arm tied behind his back. I'm for seeing what he can do over the next two years. And I think CDC agrees with me, which makes me brilliant.

Anyone remember the Great Billy Tubs wearing an aviator hat with goggles onto the court against SMU? That was after he had been pelted with penneys the previos year. I absolutely almost wet my pants I laughed so hard.
