I caught a little bit of it..

Just to taunt GP they ran that inside receiver crossing rout a dozen times and threw to RBs a lot...In fact they only ran plays that resulted in TDS against our Frogs..

Going to be very difficult to beat this year again, as it won't be any easier. Riley is better than Big Game Bob, but how does Texas play them so tight? We will need a QB that has a hot hand in that game to win it and if it's real tight, don't put the outcome of the game on a field goal attempt.

GP taking quite a bit of flak in this thread. Interesting, and deserved, but not what I’m accustomed to seeing around these parts. Think his secrecy and paranoia doesn’t play well when you win 4 conference games or whatever.

Agree, its hard to have more than 4 conf wins when you lose 20+ 2 deep players during the season, for one. A healthy Blacklock could have made a 2 game difference alone... say the Tech/Kansas games.

I have a theory, and it really has as much or more to do with offense instead of defense. It's truly unreal how pathetic our offense has played against OU's very pedestrian defense the last two seasons. For comparison, the last the games between the two teams which, due to the Big 12 Championship, covers the past two seasons:

2018 OU v. Texas:
TOP: UT 33:50
OU 26.10
Total Yards by UT: 501

2018 OU v. TCU:
TOP: TCU 22:56
OU 37:04
Total Yards by TCU: 275

2018 OU v. UT Big 12 Championship:
TOP: UT 28:00
OU 32:00
Total Yards by UT: 437

2017 OU v. Texas:
TOP: UT 28:14
OU 31:46
Total Yards by UT: 428

2017 OU v. TCU:
TOP: TCU 24.41
OU 35.19
Total Yards by TCU: 317

2017 TCU v. OU Big 12 Championship:
TOP: TCU 24:41
OU: 35.19
Total Yards by TCU: 317

OU's defense dominated our offense in all three games. Texas got outgunned by OU's offense 2 out of the 3 games but UT's offense contributed to keeping the score close. TCU's offense did not.

Thanks MFTB for posting the facts. We have to throw the ball and score. Our defense cannot play 65% of the game time while the offense sits on the bench after a TO or 3 and out. However, if you flipped the coin over and we had Mayfield and Murray, we beat OU every time. So here we are again - needing a QB.

Largest factors are OU’s heavy reliance on an illegal pattern some call the “slant” and an extra receiver those dirty okies call the “tight end.”

Its is called good Quarterback play. We did not have it against OU the last two years. End of debate.

The Land Thieves always get an extra week of practice before they play us.

They use that extra week to install a bunch of new stuff that Gary can't scout.

Eff Them.

OU has scored on every single possession in which the game outcome has still been in doubt over the last three years. Not sure I’d chalk that up to our bad offense. Touchdowns in the first five possessions of 2017 regular season as well as the championship game or something close to that.

I sort of agree. However, ever since Lincoln Riley was hired by OU their offense has torched us for an average of 43 points and 520 yards a game (5 games).

We don’t have to choose a side. I think we can easily blame both sides of the ball. I still remember that game in 2016 where we were down 6 with 2 minutes left and had scored on the previous 3 drives. We ended up getting sacked twice and went 4 & out.

An interesting stat I notice was that they have averaged more rushing yards than passing yards in those 5 games. This could just be because of all the blowouts.

For a team that prides itself with defense, we have to be better against OU, especially in the 1st half. OU, under Riley, is averaging 29 points in the 1st half against us.

2015. Halftime 23-7 (30-29 final)
2016. Halftime 35-24 (52-46 final)
2017. Halftime 38-14 (38-20 final)
2017. Halftime 23-17 (41-17 final)
2018. Halftime 28-24 (52-27 final)
