GoFrogs: Frogs Fall to Longhorns

FORT WORTH – The TCU women's tennis team suffered a 4-1 loss to No. 8 Texas on Friday afternoon at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

LEE'S THOUGHTS
"Tough one tonight but lots of learning to quickly apply toward our OU match Sunday," head coach Lee Taylor Walker said. "Doubles we were right there and that point ended up being very crucial. Need to return a little better at 2 doubles and get clearer on our calls. At 1 doubles, a few break opportunities we didn't convert that would liked to have been clearer in what we were doing after point neutralized, but credit to Texas for playing a great tiebreaker at 1 to take the doubles point. In singles, couple of things to work on individually with each player tomorrow, but overall I thought Raquel, Isa, and Yuki were playing their normal tennis and in control of their matches."

"Jade's opponent played really good today and our real opportunities came at 2-0 and 3-1 up a break in second set- wish we could do those over, as that was a pivotal moment in not only her match but the overall team match. Credit to her opponent for closing it out well. Denny and Hels were a little off today but I'm confident we will get them back on track tomorrow. Looking forward to honoring our seniors Sunday... appreciate their hard work and how they've turned the program around heading positive direction. This is a big match for us and we hope we can create a fun atmosphere to send them out on."

THE RUNDOWN
The match began with doubles play, where the Horned Frogs dropped their first doubles point of the season on the purple courts. Texas saw wins on courts one and two to claim it. Destinee Martins and Helena Narmont earned their fifth win as a pair from court three in a thrilling match winning 7-5.

Jade Otway and Isabel Pascual battled with the No. 37 pair in the country ultimately falling 7-6(3).

Despite falling 3-1 in singles, the Horned Frogs put up a fight against the Longhorns. Raquel Caballero Chica earned the lone point from court five with a 6-3, 6-4 win. The freshman moved to 8-1 in conference play with today's win.
