GoFrogs: Udeh’s Double-Double Leads to Win over Texas A&M Commerce
FORT WORTH - Sophomore center Ernest Udeh Jr. recorded his first-career double-double to lead TCU to a 77-42 win over Texas A&M Commerce Monday at Schollmaier Arena.

Udeh recorded 13 points and 18 rebounds, both career-highs, as the Horned Frogs (11-2) led from start to finish and as many as 45 points late in the second half. The 42 points scored by the Lions (6-7) were the second fewest allowed in the Jamie Dixon era. Among Udeh's 18 rebounds were 11 on the offensive end. It was the most by a Frog in 22 seasons.

TCU scored the first six points of the game and led 17-4 seven minutes into the New Year's Day contest. The Frogs shot 63.6 percent from the field in the first half and of the 21 made field goals, nine were dunks. TCU led 47-20 at the break.

The Frogs opened the second half on a 17-2 run to lead 64-22 with 12:32 remaining. A 3-pointer by Trevian Tennyson with 5:41 remaining, gave TCU its largest lead, 73-28. On the next possession, Khaliq Abdul-Mateen gave TAMUC its first made 3-pointer of the game. It was the first of consecutive threes that helped the Lions close the gap late with a 12-6 run.

For the game, TAMUC shot 32.2 percent from the field, the fewest by a TCU opponent this season. The Lions were held to 2-of-22 from three.

Avery Anderson III joined Udeh for the team lead in scoring with 13 points. All five starters scored in double figures with Micah Peavy and Tennyson scoring 11 and Emanuel Miller finishing with 10.

TCU will begin Big 12 Conference play at No. 2 Kansas on Saturday at 1 p.m. on CBS.

  • The 18 rebounds is the third best number by a Big 12 player this season. Hunter Dickenson of Kansas has had games with 21 and 20 rebounds.
  • Udeh's 11 offensive rebounds were the most since Jamal Brown had 15 against North Texas on Dec. 23, 2001. He is one of five players to record 11 or more offensive rebounds in a game this season.
  • Avery Anderson scored 13 points, shooting 5-for-9, his third game this season in double-figures.
  • Micah Peavy contributed 11 points, his 10th game this season in double-figures out of 12 games played.
