GoFrogs: TCU Blanks Michigan, 6-0
HOUSTON – Ryan Vanderhei and Luke Savage teamed up to hold Michigan to just four hits in a 6-0 shutout victory over the Wolverines. Austin Davis and Cole Fontenelle homered in the contest.

The Rundown
Ryan Vanderhei (1-1) was brilliant in picking up his first TCU victory. He tossed a season-high six innings, allowed just three hits, walked one and struck out eight. Luke Savage followed with three shutout frames. He surrendered a hit, hit a batter and struck out one to pick up the save.

Austin Davis' lead-off home run in the fourth got the Frogs on the board.

Michigan threatened in the fifth as a lead-off infield single followed by a hit batter and walk loaded the bases with nobody out. Brayden Taylor threw out the tying run at the plate for the first out and Vanderhei got a big strikeout for out No. 2. A flyout ended the inning.

TCU found some breathing room in the seventh in the form of a pinch-hit, two-run home run off the bat of Cole Fontenelle as the Frogs opened up a 3-0 lead.

The Horned Frogs doubled their lead with three in the eighth. Three free passes loaded the bases with nobody out. Kurtis Byrne grounded out to drive in a run. Tre Richardson perfectly executed a suicide bunt and David Bishop followed with a two-out, RBI-single to account for the final score.
